Default wtf?! car won't start.

drove it last night, and parked it in my driveway fine. just now i went outside to start it up -- nothing.

it seems like its cranking, but it's not catching.. could it be the starter?

just want to know a definite answer so i can repair what ever it is. TIA.

Check what reading are you getting off your battery. If its too weak, it wont be able turn the starter quick enough to start the car. If the battery has good juice, then it might be the starter. Bench test it and see if it works properly.

If you turn the key to the on position and have power, then turn it to start and everything goes off, maybe hear a click but nothing else, check ALL your grounds to make sure it isnt one of them before pulling out your starter. - take it from me, it was a pain in the ****.

battery is fine, and im almost sure that all my grounds are fine as well, because nothing goes off when i turn the key.

my brother told me he smelled a lot of fuel when i tried cranking it again, so i ruled out a fuel pressure problem.. anything else?

Does it actually crank, or just click?

Don't hurt yourself now ....and If you're starter's pooched and you have a manual tranny you can bumb start it to at least get you somewhere if you need to move your car.

If your car is cranking it's prob not the starter's cuz if the starter was shot u wouldn't hear anything. what it sounds like to me is your distributor, you might need a new rotor cuz the old one is prob not connecting right. i;m not 100% sure thats the prob but it's some where to start. let me know how it goes. and it is also possible that it could be the timming belt like someone eles said

It's funny, my friends R did the same thing last night, he pulled the wires and checked for spark, left no. 1 unplugged cranked it, it started and then a big puff of black smoke

I dought its the timing belt i would check my fuses first (ignition fuse) then jump start it for fun the extra charge may help.

If it was the timing belt you would hear a funny taping from the engine as the valves hit the pistions.

fuel pumps and timing problems like to happen while your driving so it can strand you (mostly but not allways)

i'd like to think it was the interer light left on over night or door not closed all the way

good luck

it was probably your MFR connections failling because of the heat, causing you to flood it. Common with aging hondas.

how do you know for sure that it's the ignition coil? it could be anything along the ignition lines, and as he said, his motor was flooded so it turned out not to be the ignition coil. *roll eyes x2*

is the car starting normal or did it do it again? my guess is the ignitor in the distributor is slowly failing
