Default Tranny Help :(

Alright so at the beggining of my engine build, I picked up a b16 tranny of a member on -------- (who said it had no grinds), and once Dave put it in, we found it grinds like a biatch into 3rd gear AND sometimes 4th , so I call the guy up and he says he will take it back (Big time waste for me because the labour to put that tranny in goes to waste $300) Now he has waited for 3 weeks for me to give it back to him and its still in my car, I have come across another guy who has a b16 tranny which has 3rd gear grind but only over 6000 rpm, so my question is should I grab that and fix it since its already out and put in my tranny or what? This is really stressing me out for the last month, I can't seem to find a mint B16 tranny, GSR tranny or Type R tranny on any forums. Any help will be appreciated very much IF anyone knows a place that will hook me up that can fix the tranny grind for the one im going to get, please let me know, I beg ya, I want to get this over with and get back my GSR head and sell that to get my money back. (I traded the GSR head for the b16 Tranny thats sitting in my car)

THANK YOU!

i'd prolly just rebuild the one you've got. Why risk buying another tranny that could possibly grind.

I've got a guy here in Hamilton (licensed honda mechanic) who rebuilds trannys for retardedly low prices. If you want, have dave pull the tranny out and send it to my guy, he works at honda so he can get the parts fast, and he loves working on trannys so he's really good at it. He's told me the majority of the time its not even the syncros and its usually a mainshaft/countershaft/input shaft bearing, which are cheaper and easier to replace.

If you wanna pay like $1000 for a b16 tranny go to -------- or another JDM dealer, and you could still get a ---- one and have to swap it out AGAIN, its not like they put every tranny into a car and test them, they're just telling you that they are mint.

well, i don't want to speak for him. But i'm pretty sure i remember him saying if you bring him the tranny it's like $50 to diagnose whats really wrong with it and $100 for his labour to fix anything and re-assemble the tranny....i think, i can give you his number and you can ask him for yourself to be sure though.

if u wanna fix temporary, AC DELCO SYNCHROMESH (at any GM dealer parts) buy those and get your tranny fluid changed.

will fix the 3rd and 4th gear grind.

keep in mind, this is not the ultimate fix. id fuq that guy up who sold u a fuqd tranny
