Default My repair/build thread...

Well since other people like the idea and want to see what other people are up to for the winter etc... heres some of mine...

its not too much, more of just a repair but its what i'm doing over winter... I had a cooling issue, due to a accident with a prior owner, with the ac compresser pushing into the rad... and it overheated blah blah... so decided to rip apart the head and get it machined... pulled a/c and a few other odds and ends i'm doing to get it ready for summer... heres some pics for a start...

leaving it out, it didn't work, and I donno what the problem was, it didn't work when my friend bought the car even. So saves weight, and the amount of times I use it even in my other vehicle... meh... I had the sunroof open and windows open ALL the time, unless it was raining lol

well I got more pics to add up later, but tonight, got my full JIC exhaust installed. The axel back (titanium part) was already installed, the mid pipe (stainless steel) I had to have a 4.5" piece welded on to extend it to fit...so got that done tonight and put up, so exhaust is done, and I placed the headgasket on the block, and put the head on, on thursday when I go back up, the head will get tightened down, the exhaust manifold will be tightened back up... pics to be up tomorrow/later today lol.

I ordered the intake manifold gasket tonight (heat barrier) so hopefully i'll have that shortly... need to work on my tranny/clutch to see where the problem is...and when I searched, theres hope its not the tranny a lot of ppl had problems with clutch parts, like pp, or springs came loose on the clutch etc... heres for hoping!!!!

well its been a little while since i've posted progress/pics. I was sick there and didn't work on my car for like a week (which would have been 2 nights..) So i've been up here and there...and for the most part the car is back together. Next time i'm up, just gotta properly set timing, and then wait for my valve cover to get back from powder coating so I can install it and start my car ...make sure everything is proper, and then pull off the tranny/clutch see if I can find my problem with that.

I only machined it so far...I like having the "machined" look and since its aluminum, to "polish" it will only last so long until it dulls again...

well i polish wheels at work and if you get a good compund then it wont dull water and every will just run off of it if it was like a wax, but i kno what you mean by the "machined" it does look awsome but that will still get the white powdery corosion on it in the long run so make sure its always clean lmao

really? a friend was curious if I could polish the lips on his rims but I don't do stuff like that at my work, I don't do anything automotive to be exact just have the machines to do simple and basic stuff like that.

and what kinda compound? you mean like what you'd use on the paint for your car? or is there some kinda compound you can use for aluminum that you're talking about?
