Default Grinding sound

I have a grinding sound coming from the front of my 91 gs teg. It gets worse upon acceleration. At first I suspected bad wheel bearings but after jacking the car up and checking the wheels for play(none at all) I'm at a loss. Upper controll arms are almost new and have no play and the lower balljoints are also recent and show no play. Waht can this grinding be? Possible bad intermediate shaft bearing? If the wheel bearings were bad there would be play in the wheel correct???? I'm stumped.....Anyone?

Nope, that would indicate a input shaft bearing going south. I had the car on a lift today and found out what the problem is. I localized the grinding sound to my passenger wheel bearing. Keep in mind there is no play at all in the wheel bearing but it makes a grinding metal on metal sound. Gonna have to press it out tommorow.

Or when you press the brake? did you check if the dust shields are touching the rotors? try taking the wheel off and check the hub for play too

It's the wheel bearing. I checked all of the above.

Thanks.

Well it appears that I was correct. It was the wheel bearing. I took the knuckle/hub off the car and had Active green and ross press in a new bearing for 60 bucks. Not bad.
