Default need help...rattling sound or knocking sound..

my teg makes this metallic knocking sound or it sounds like theres a small rock in a metal garbage can sound...whenever i press the gas or when i left go of the clutch slowly...in other words...when it accelerate in very low rpm...it makes that sound...but it hasnt caused anything majoy its just anoyying...

iv done some research and some say...its just a loose piece....some say to try diff brand of gas and higher octane (i use 89 with an RS)....i also recently changed my wires and plugs but that was about a week and a half ago and i just started hearing it yesterday after pumping at shell...i usually pump at petro...

\anyone ever had this problem...?..any help would be appreciated..

Where is this noise coming from? Front back under in the cabin? That would help.

I'm experiencing the same issue but mine is definitely coming in the trunk space. I've stripped it bare, removed loose pieces and placed everything back to ensure nothing shakes but yet the sound is still there.

I've come to a conclusion that the sound is coming from the actual hatch part, I should take it apart one day. So annoying

98 GSR btw.

loose heat sheild? bearing? exhaust leak? thats all i can think of.

i would be more inclined to a loose heat shield though....

around your exhaust header, above your cat, and at various other points along your exhaust piping are metal shields to guard against the heat from the pipe. these often rust and cause rattling noises. either bolt them back on or remove. should solve the problem (though i wouldn't recommend removing them unless its really necessary)
