After the rubber melted it may have done some damage to the wire. Clean the bare wire, better yet replace it, then double check all wires if they are on tight. It melted for a reason, doesn't just happen out of the blue. Loose/bare wire somewhere. Once you have good connection for the negative terminal, it should start up.

If it were me i'd go through your electrical system again. From start to finish. make sure everything is ok, and replace the wire that melted. when things like this happen, go right back to basics.

I checked the starter and it was really loose. Only one bolt was holding it. So maybe it knocked loose

It's not like I didn't mention that would be a problem, nevermind putting an m/t starter on an a/t tranny :P but w/e it's all good ahaha.. I'm just joking, don't take that comment seriously.. glad to hear you're not parting out all my hard work

I might also add you'll have to relocate your o2 sensor if you change headers, and because you're obd-0 and it's not heated you'll get random misfiring on warm-up. Trust me, I had it. Finally figured it out and converted to obd-1 and put a heated o2 sensor in.
