Then again when I wanted to pull it outside, It wouldnt start

My negative battery wire rubber melted. the rubber around the wire

The car clicks but no crank. all the lights come on, radio and horn aswell.

whats the problem.

JDM_overdose 03-17-2010 07:43 PM

:P paul

anyone..

D.T.P 03-17-2010 08:13 PM

After the rubber melted it may have done some damage to the wire. Clean the bare wire, better yet replace it, then double check all wires if they are on tight. It melted for a reason, doesn't just happen out of the blue. Loose/bare wire somewhere. Once you have good connection for the negative terminal, it should start up.

JDM_overdose 03-17-2010 08:15 PM

me and hidden81 checked everything. we were looking in the engine bay for 2hrs and trying everything.

hidden81 03-17-2010 09:26 PM

yeah we looked and we didnt see any loose wires anyway in the engine bay. maybe it was right infront of us and we didnt see it but yeah we checked it.

XNXIXTXRXOX 03-18-2010 11:41 PM

If it were me i'd go through your electrical system again. From start to finish. make sure everything is ok, and replace the wire that melted. when things like this happen, go right back to basics.

JDM_overdose 03-18-2010 11:43 PM

i checked every single wire in the engine bay. the wire is still fine. just rubber melted

just_try 03-18-2010 11:52 PM

yo look and make sure all the hose r on from when you took off the stock air box could b that look at your fuses all of them in the car and under the hood when you try and start if you here some thing spinning if your timming belt could b your distributor spark plug look at that stuff

XNXIXTXRXOX 03-18-2010 11:53 PM

JDM_overdose 03-19-2010 12:00 AM

i did. no power. but my jumper cables are ----. imma try 2morrow when 1goodyr comes over

Neon_Dave 03-19-2010 12:00 AM

AcuratePaul 03-19-2010 06:14 AM

Can't be my starter i was perfect dammit.

JDM_overdose 03-19-2010 08:11 AM

I checked the starter and it was really loose. Only one bolt was holding it. So maybe it knocked loose

AcuratePaul 03-19-2010 10:18 AM

it could of not been fully in all the way cuz it to rotate but not getting it to grab inside. make sure its nice and snug.

JDM_overdose 03-19-2010 11:44 AM

got the car to run. i had the b18b1 starter in. it didnt fit so it kept slipping. so i put the
b18a starter in. runs good.

hidden81 03-19-2010 11:47 AM

you did bro thats good.
so it was the starter .

AcuratePaul 03-19-2010 02:14 PM

so the b18b dont fit the b18a tranny, i thought all B-series are the same well some1 lied to me (Spike) lol, ehh my turns on once in while it don't work thou.

Is there any other problems that you are running into after in turned on? melted wires overheating?

JDM_overdose 03-19-2010 02:36 PM

well i know my headers are cracked. i put the b18a headers on which were ----. imma put the b18b ones on later.

yea the b18a and b18b are different.

the b18a has a tip like this ( ^ ) and the b18b tip is completly round

irsdb7 03-19-2010 02:40 PM

^ well basicly all b series manualstarters do fit but not in auto trans and vise versa.
the difference comes with auto and manual

im glad to hear that the bitch is running again! w0ot

AcuratePaul 03-19-2010 02:41 PM

ah ha why did you even bother taking off the hearders that were on it and put the b18a on it?

JDM_overdose 03-19-2010 02:41 PM

they were already in the engine bay attatched to the exhaust

It's not like I didn't mention that would be a problem, nevermind putting an m/t starter on an a/t tranny :P but w/e it's all good ahaha.. I'm just joking, don't take that comment seriously.. glad to hear you're not parting out all my hard work :jeez:

I might also add you'll have to relocate your o2 sensor if you change headers, and because you're obd-0 and it's not heated you'll get random misfiring on warm-up. Trust me, I had it. Finally figured it out and converted to obd-1 and put a heated o2 sensor in.

JDM_overdose 03-20-2010 08:56 AM

if i have to relocate the o2 sensor, im just gonna buy a DC header. nice aftermarket:P

do those even have plugs for o2s

Burfy 03-20-2010 09:14 PM

They should (-.-)

JDM_overdose 03-20-2010 09:43 PM

lol if they dont

Burfy 03-21-2010 03:23 PM

Dont buy them :P
