Hey, my buddy just gave me a rear tie-bar and a set of BLOX LCAs.

My question is will I be able to install these parts without a hoist? Also what is required?

The reason I ask is I looking for a set of coilovers, and figure if its easier than I will just install them all at the same time.

 

yeah you dont need a hoist. just axle stands. and yes it is a good idea to do it all at the same time. otherwise you will have to put it on stands and pull stuff apart twice.

 

Just have fun doing the control arms with out a torch, because the control arm all like to seize up. I had to cut the ends off mine and replace all the bolts.

 

Make sure you have a breaker bar, some new bolts and a good hammer. Haha.

 

you will never get the bolts out of the lca's without snapping them and cutting them out with a grinder or reciprocating saw.

 

ya, i've been looking at a few DIYs for the Control arms, if I am going to do it it'll have to be at my cottage (thats where tools are).

i'll most likely do them with the coilovers (whenever i get them).

Now, if i'm staying on stock wheels and lower my car about 2" am I going to need a camber kit? or can i just get the toe adjusted?

 

Get camber kits. you will most likely need them for the front for sure, and maybe not for the back. I have mine lowered with the tires inside the wheel well, and the front camber is at -2.6 and my rear is at 0.5, with it like that, the front camber well kill your tires over time, the back will not really.

 

yeah. my buddy's da was like that. brand new falkens with about 2in of wear all the way down to the mesh on the inside of his tires. the outsides were still in perfect shape.

get a kit, it'll save your tires big time in the end

heh, not a fan of BLOX lca's i think i mentioned in my previous post the bushings that they come with are ----. unless they recently changed it up ;x

 

good luck with out a hoist, your gunna be banging away rusted bolts on the floor?

to save you some time and stress, you need a hoist, power tools/guns and a hammer

 

yea i am just going to get everything done at once, purchase everything over the winter.

 

if only the poor amongst us had access to such wondrous luxuries all the time. *sigh*
