My repair/build thread...

Well since other people like the idea and want to see what other people are up to for the winter etc... heres some of mine...
its not too much, more of just a repair but its what i'm doing over winter... I had a cooling issue, due to a accident with a prior owner, with the ac compresser pushing into the rad... and it overheated blah blah... so decided to rip apart the head and get it machined... pulled a/c and a few other odds and ends i'm doing to get it ready for summer... heres some pics for a start... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...R/IMG_0190.jpg A/C removed :) Attachment 11726 oooo floating, its magic! lol Attachment 11727 cams and cam gears removed Attachment 11728 and heres the lovely cams and cam gears! Attachment 11729 head off :) Attachment 11730 my friends civic bumper on, just for fun (not actually putting it on) Attachment 11731 |
Not bad man, got to love doing engine work.
that civic bumber would actually be a sick conversion.... so i are putting the ac back in or just keeping it all out?
leaving it out, it didn't work, and I donno what the problem was, it didn't work when my friend bought the car even. So saves weight, and the amount of times I use it even in my other vehicle... meh... I had the sunroof open and windows open ALL the time, unless it was raining lol
While everything is out, put some nice aem cam gears in there.
I bought some nice cleaner ---- to clean the engine bay ;) it'll be nice and shiny and purty! :) I still got some fun/cool pics from last night from my DSLR to upload lol

Noice Noice. I love seing integras torn apart for some reason. Looks like serious business is going on. Car looks Cleaaaaaaan. Love the Spoilerless look
well I got more pics to add up later, but tonight, got my full JIC exhaust installed. The axel back (titanium part) was already installed, the mid pipe (stainless steel) I had to have a 4.5" piece welded on to extend it to fit...so got that done tonight and put up, so exhaust is done, and I placed the headgasket on the block, and put the head on, on thursday when I go back up, the head will get tightened down, the exhaust manifold will be tightened back up... pics to be up tomorrow/later today lol.

LOL Attachment 11698 |
niceeeee. is that weld proper.
ya its welded properly...other than he didn't use stainless wire (which is why I had to use high heat paint on it)...
MOAR work!!! Makes me jelous :( Cuse nothing is going on with my teg for a bit
ya thats the work from monday...but I went to bed like right after I posted up the info of what I did, got busy tuesday... i'll be back up tomorrow to continue work :) hopefully the head will be bolted down, as will the exhaust manifold.... I ordered the intake manifold gasket tonight (heat barrier) so hopefully i'll have that shortly... need to work on my tranny/clutch to see where the problem is...and when I searched, theres hope its not the tranny a lot of ppl had problems with clutch parts, like pp, or springs came loose on the clutch etc... :) heres for hoping!!!!
well its been a little while since i've posted progress/pics. I was sick there and didn't work on my car for like a week (which would have been 2 nights..) So i've been up here and there...and for the most part the car is back together. Next time i'm up, just gotta properly set timing, and then wait for my valve cover to get back from powder coating so I can install it and start my car :)...make sure everything is proper, and then pull off the tranny/clutch see if I can find my problem with that.

well i polish wheels at work and if you get a good compund then it wont dull water and every will just run off of it if it was like a wax, but i kno what you mean by the "machined" it does look awsome but that will still get the white powdery corosion on it in the long run so make sure its always clean lmao

well, out LATE last night, but got most of the car back together and enough together to get it started... started up fine and sounded alright :)... so now to continue throwing it back together to have it ready to come out :)
u gotta get it readi so u can drive to my house for the swap
my insurance doesn't kick on till April 1st....
ohhhh. u suck:(
UGHHH this is bs... thought I was done figured i'd have some simple adjustments get rid of the engine light, had an o2 sensor (#2)...and had missfire cyl 1,2,3.... now I have missfire cyl 1,3,random. When I took the car in I had random missfire, and possibly more that I didn't know about... New Plugs (gapped to spec), New wires, tried moving plugs around, tried movie injectors around... i've hear possibly rotor/cap... gonna check compression next time i'm up... any other ideas from ppl who have had this issue, what fixed your problem?
Check maybe your timing, it could be off.

it went from cyl 1,2,3... and then I adjusted the valves to 1,3,random (with o2 both times)... from what I read for something like that its a good chance of plugged injectors... (causes it to run lean and trips the o2)... But gonna have it compression tested by my friend, and rule that out (HOPEFULLY)... |
so pictures of the car back together patrick? :)
Where did you go to get the powder coating?? and what's the colour code you used? I found that place on Millen rd called MES powdercoating and if I supply the paint it's $30/rim lol
thats actually where I went, is MES powdercoating. I donno the paint code, I told him I wanted it gunmetal, he said he had 2 shades so I just told him to choose one for me. He does powdercoating for my work, so thats how I knew about him, have known him for 6 years.
Did they also sand down the valve cover. or was yours mint it didnt need any sanding
they don't do sandblasting themselves, but yes mine had to be sandblasted.
I want to get mine done properly. Polish the Honda Motor Co. And paint it 24k Gold(not real gold lmao, just the look of real gold)
I machined my honda motor co...did it myself at my work...
Oh. Do you have anything for sale. ill be in your area this tuesday
uhhh nothing for sale other than a gsr exhaust lol... after the cat. back... so mid pipe and exhaust lol thats about it...everything else was garbage that I took off the car
Pat, what did it cost you for the powdercoat? i got a spare one i want done it's already blasted.
lol well I got a deal since i've known the guy for 6 years...I can ask him how much it'll cost, what colour would you want done? red? a certain shade? etc
That's awesome.. I was chatting with the one guy in there last week and he said if I get the paint from Tiger drylac that he could do it for $30/rim.. So I might get my front/rear LCAs, valve cover, and trailing arms all powder coated the same colour..
List of colours: http://www.aluminumrailing.net/image...r%20drylac.pdf I was thinking of "Sahara Gold" or "Sungold Metallic" for the rims and things and a Royal blue for the car colour.. Kind of like the subaru blue/gold :P Just outta curiosity, where did you get your stuff sandblasted? The guy at MES recommended a place on Kenora but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me :( I was lucky to remember the tiger drylac name for the paint |
