My DB2 Build
Alright so I'm bored and decided what better time to make a build thread and entertain myself and others.
I've been around Hondas for a long time. Some people here make remember me and my 1st EG hatch (blue, slammed, fart can, amber turns, autotragic circa 2001-2002). Since then I've had a 89 5.0L Mustang notch back, 89 Prelude Si 4WS, 94 Grand Cherokee all jacked up on mudders, 93 CX hatch beater, 93 Grand Cherokee V8 and finally my 93 GS-R. I bought the Teg because gas prices were nuts and my commute is about 60km one way to work (crap). Anyhow, here's the car in all it's glory shortly after buying it. I add 1 pieces, ITR style lip, amber turns and of course, stickers! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3129/...93c3502f_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3254/...72ef3404_b.jpg |

Then I picked up parts to do my S2000 cluster install.

Attachment 14687 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...oldering01.jpg Attachment 14688 I've got over 20 hours worth of work into the harness. Had to figure out all the DA wiring with a spare cluster, total pain. Then soldered it into the car: Attachment 14689 Then did a little trial run of it (no speedo or ECT at this time): Attachment 14690 Here's a little vid and some driving, ignore my dumb comments. And a night vid. |

Then I deleted the wiper all ghetto like (have a real plug now):
Attachment 14684 Put in a shift extender and Skunk2 knob: Attachment 14685 Jacked her up for the winter: Attachment 14686 |

Bought NSX calipers for my front brakes:
Attachment 14678 Installed some Pro Sport Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges: Attachment 14679 Attachment 14680 Attachment 14681 Most important part, videos! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdviENH7Euw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjanU4LZ0Og Also put in a C-Pillar bar. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...CPillar001.jpg I decided to slightly tint/smoke my spare tails and bumper turns. I'm pleased with the out come. They won't go on till spring time. Attachment 14682 PIC Apex 10k front/8k rear and Blox Rear LCAs have been ordered. Attachment 14683 |
And that's where I end off.
I've got a B18B block and I might build up an LS/VTEC motor but anyone who knows me knows my mind changes one day to the next. Right now I'm gonna re do my suspension, get some new rims, some exterior ----, brakes, etc. Enjoy! |
for suspension i woudl suggest f+R suspension tech swaybars they compliment the cpillar...
cant wait too see the tails on the car iv wanted to smoke mine iv just been lazy |
Looking sick! you having a tough time doing the speedo cable? man I hope you post a DIY for the cluster i love it! Nice to see more DA builds comin through! DA love!

does the rear strut bar really do anything? if so is it noticeable? i wanna get a rear subframe brace but i just need the dimensions so i can get 1 lazer cut @ work... id rather 1 off it so i can lazer in a design
this is what my current setup looks like Attachment 14677 |
Strut bar is just a no name BS Pac Mall Piece. My old EG had some Skunk2 stuff on it and I noticed a big difference. The brand name stuff is generally more stiff and not flexy like the cheap brands. I can grab my megan c-pillar bar and almost bend it, good thing it was cheaper.
I need a swap bar and I like the bling of the ASR. OOOO SHINEY! |
1 Attachment(s)
yeah im thinking bout a cage i was bored @ work 1 dayand decided to mock 1 up. but right now thats on hold as i just got laid off...but i have one more week in jans o ill prob finish the mock cage and enclose the front seats and engine bay
Attachment 14676 |
I won't be doing a cage till the car is no longer a DD and still it will never be a total race car. I like to cruise and ---- lol.
Next set of mods are ASR brace and rear sway bar, ST front sway bar, rear tie bars (EM racing maybe), full bushing kit. I might do a camber kit, not sure yet. Then it's get my NSX brakes on the front and RSX brakes on the rear. |
my car is a DD and i still want to do the cage... rsx brakes on the rear.. really how much bigger than stock. as i have to get bigger brakes on the rear. once u have the nsx calipers on id like a ride would like to compare between my wilwood bbk
|
It's just RSX calipers really. Using EP3 rotors since they are 4x100 (early models were 4 lug), that will give me 10 or 10.3" rears which should really balance it out nicely.
I'll likely be doing the swap at my friend's dad's shop which is just out side of Cambridge. You're more then welcome to come check it out. |
Nice work man
|
nice work Anthony, i love the cluster. thought about doing it myself. do you have a wiring schematic for it?

hey man yur ride is comming together nicely...i was wondering where u got da c-piller bar from..im lookin 4 one of those 4 my da as well
|
Im getting the Miracle C-Pillar Bar, along with the Butterfly bars, ordering them in a month, its a 3 month wait for them.. so gotta order in time for spring :D... Miracle FTW!

I've got cluster pin outs, no clue if they are the same on the 90-91 though, I don't see why not. I intend to do a complete wiring diagram/list and how to once I get it all finalized.

I'd personally spend the money on an EM Racing one, much better quality.

|
yea, the i wont really be needing my privacy cover, because its going to be strictly track, but yea, yours is going to be daily, so that would make a difference.. lol. I wanna see the wiring diagram too! :yeah:
|
For now it's a daily. It will never really be dedicated to just one thing but a simply good all around car.

Bought these off of JDMhoer today.
Attachment 14614 They are now half apart in my living room and I think I might get them in tomorrow. |
LOOKING SEXY!!!!!!!!!!! I love it all bro. the cluster is something a lot of us are gonna want to do as well.. i wont lie. I also love the nsx caliper swap but what alternatives are there for the rear calipers around the same level? Im interested! lol. You must come out to one of our meets next year!
|
There's lots of calipers you can use in the rear. I choose to go with RSX calipers and 10.3 EP3 discs.

BAM! PICs are here along with the Megan rear LCAs.
Attachment 14580 Attachment 14581 (sorry about the cell phone pics) Installing them this weekend. |
iv got the LCa's in red!! sexy
|
lol its funny cause iw as actually ordering myself some in blue soon :P I think some nice DA's are gonna be rolling out in the summer this year :O
|
build is looking solid bro. keep up the good work and the updates! :P
|
great build so far man, cant wait to see this car on the road in the spring
|
It's on the road just looks like ---- cause I haven't washed it in months.
Can't wait to have it back in summer mode. |

Started to install the PICs last night, no good pictures because I forgot my camera.
Rears out: Attachment 14529 Fronts out: Attachment 14530 Then we hit a snag, I was sold the wrong forks! ARG! Partly my fault for not noticing when I bought them but still. I'm not dropping any names yet, going back there when they open this morning and hopefully get the right ones or a refund. So for now I'm riding on PICs in the rear and Teins up front lol. Also the rear is a lot lower because the PICs are shorter, tucking tire in the rear and like 3" up front LOL. I'll be getting the front PICs in tomorrow, hopefully won't have a problem getting the right forks today. I also need some bolts and washers to hook my sway bar back up with the Megan arms. The arms were the same length as stock too. On the plus side, the PICs are friggin STIFF!! |
9 Attachment(s)
Got the front PICs in today. Had to argue a bit to get the proper forks but I got them.
Attachment 14499 Attachment 14500 Extended top hats on the front Attachment 14501 What I had to do to bolt my sway bar back up again. It's ghetto but it works. Attachment 14502 Attachment 14503 Couple over all pictures of the car. Attachment 14504 Attachment 14505 Attachment 14506 Attachment 14507 The rear is lower then the front but I'm too lazy to adjust it and it's winter time. Come spring it will come down a bit lower. Oh and remember, when driving, you've got to listen to good music. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...c/IMGP4482.jpg |
who sold you the forks?
what was wrong with the old ones? |
HOLAAY dats slammed i love it ..lol
lookin good bro |

what was wrong with the old ones? The forks they sold me were DC forks. DA forks have a smaller hole for the shock since the shock mount is smaller. The car was sitting on ITR spec Teins, hence why I need new forks.

Teaser shots of the new seats.
Attachment 14418 Attachment 14419 This picture shows the head clearance, not too much! Attachment 14420 I need to do some fine tuning to get them to sit right. For now only the driver's seat is in. Plus for some reason the outside rail (closest to the door) isn't locking in place in any position but all the way back (conveniently where it's the position I sit in). I think in the spring I'll pull the seats out, do some trimming and then weld the rails in place. |
nice keep it going
|
So after driving into work and smacking my head off the roof a dozen or so times, I hate how the seat sits. I feel like I'm driving a jeep again and not a sports coupe.
I'm going to pick up some flat stock today and make my own low profile rails. Seats won't be able to slide but who cares. I plan to delete the back seat anyhow and I'm the only person who drives the car so... |
man i know hpw you feel before i bought the seat brackets that bolt up to my slider and then to the floor for my racing seats i had them scrwed into the floor with some washers to level them out and i sat so highin the car and even though the car was very low i felt like i was ten feet in the air and my head was so close to the roof. I'm glad i fixed that problem.
|
how much you get your coilovers for???and if you still have the origonal gsR cluster i'll buy it :D
|
Coils were $950 from --------. I will not be selling the cluster, sorry.

Seats are all finalized, heaters are hooked up, etc.
I love them but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them. I would have to cut some of the seat frame to have them sit correctly in the car and I'm not sure if I want to butcher them that much. Anyhow, here's some pictars. Attachment 14374 Attachment 14375 Attachment 14376 Attachment 14377 Attachment 14378 Here's the switches for the heaters, nice and low key, I wish they weren't all red but what can you do. Attachment 14379 |
I see overspray on the rear window or is that just a reflection ?
|
Yea, been there since I bought the car. Never tried to remove it cause I'm not sure how.
|
ultra fine steal woool.. or a brand new fresh razor blade that'll do the trick..seats look good.. i'm thinkin of jus stuffin my seats wit the ass warmers...dunno yet..
|
Too bad your head hits the roof with the leathers they look good in the car.
|
I'm gonna talk with some buddies of mine who do welding and see if they will help me chop some out.
|
i wouldnt mind getting rsx seats in my da either how much will you set it up for :D the brackets and such since im a small guy head clearance wont be a problem :) i need those ass warmers.....
|
Actually, they will be an issue even if your short. A co-worker sat in them and thought they were high and he's like 5'10 tops.
I'm actually talking with Aaron Weir about helping me fix them, that way I know the work will be quality. |

Thusee picked up a 93 GS-R for parts and I grabbed a bunch of stuff from him. Complete lower dash, mirrors, rear panel inserts, steering column trim, rear hubs, motor mounts, climate control and the rear filler panel.
First, the motor mounts. I found out one of my mounts is gone so I needed new ones and the mounts out of the GS-R were in good shape. I also wanted a stiffer mount to bought so after searching the net, I made my own filled mounts. The new/used mounts, still in good condition (rear mount not pictured) Attachment 14323 The mounts after being filled. Attachment 14324 I should hopefully get them in shortly and be able to give some impressions. Next thing is I finally got my S2000 cluster mounted up nicely. I was thinking for ages on how to solidly mount the thing and came up with nothing. Finally it me the other week, pipe strapping. It's strong and easily flexable to bend into the shape I need for mounts. So I bought some and mounted the cluster up for the last time. Attachment 14325 Attachment 14326 Attachment 14327 The cluster sits perfect now. The first upper mount I made leaned the cluster too far forward making it impossible to read so I had to redo it. All I need now is some carbon fiber to trim it all out. Attachment 14328 Last little update is this, I've always wanted a steering column gauge pod. I'm not a fan of a piller pods. No, it's no where near done. Going to mold it into the cover with some fiberglass and bondo so it will be one piece. Attachment 14329 Attachment 14330 It does block the temp and gas gauges but that's not a big deal. Temp gauge has a warning buzzer (built into the Modifry unit) and besides all I have to do is tilt my head a tiny bit to see it. Here's an over all picture of the interior. Attachment 14331 |
nice
what did you use to fill the mounts with? will it work on my ls mounts that i have in my rs right now? |
I used PL Premium, it's a construction adhesive. It will be pretty much solid when hardened.
3M Window Weld is another option. It will work on any mount but it takes time to dry. Mine have set for 24hrs and they are not dry yet. |
