My 99 DC4 Build
3 Attachment(s)
Well now that the work has started on my car, thanks to me starting on it tonight. So far I have spent 2 hours tonight sanding the front bumper right down taking off all the paint, because it was stoned chipped big time, and that the bumper it's self has stoned chips (thanks to it being rubber). So tomorrow I just finish doing all the spots I could not get the 6" air palm sander into, but got about 97% of it done tonight. Plus I sanded down where the licence plate bolts to, as I'll be making is smooth on the front. Here's a few pictures I took with my Iphone of what I got done tonight. I'll have more tomorrow of it all sanded, and what ever other part I start sanding tomorrow. Here are also some pictures of how the car looks right now. I'm doing all the work at Budd's Collision in oakville.

WOOT WOOT!, A build thread. Mine is coming up soon. :)
what are the plans for the interior ? Caging it still? |
That's a old picture of the interior, all the interior parts from the doors back ar out of the car, as there is rust to be fixed, and i'm cutting out the trunk floor and welding in new metal. Yes the car will still be getting caged, but that will be last to go in.
|
Clean that carpet. i dyed mine.
|
What colour?
Spike, looking good man. Fresh coat of black, or other colour going on it? Also, you planning on having a track day car type setup? Interesting build, looking forward to seeing the results. |
looks good..and what you gonna do to your carpet? i have the same problem with mine and what are you changing in the interior?
|
I think having just a black integra carpet is good. Then just paint up the A pillar and B pillar bars black and maybe do a Bride headliner ? NOICCCCCCE
|
thats alot of work...nice
|
The carpet will be going black. Plus today I finished the front bumper, and the rear bumper is pretty much done aswell, just have a few more spots to finish sanding, plus got the passenger fender almost done, as there was a little bit of rust on it and a dent, and all that is fixed now, and the last layer sanded down and then it will be ready for priming like the bumper.
|
Nice. I hated the rust fix and sand part of my process.

great thread.. i'll have a build thread too when it's warmer!
|
Good call on not buying a black carpet those things are way too over priced. I wish I could do body work like sanding lol. I'm always afraid I'm not going to sand it down smoothly or without having indents.
|
Looking good spike!
I am sure it will turn out amazing. |
Thanks every one. I'll be back there today for a few more hours getting some more parts done.
Yeah the carpets are over priced. |
Can't wait to see this thing at the summer meets.
Keep up the great work Jason :yeah: |
Thanks Dan. I can't wait for it as well. I miss driving her.

LMFAO that was funny, and thats why you never leave your keys in your car, lol.
|
where you gonna get the carpet paint..i wen to canadian tire and they just have normal spray paints and my friend painted his carpet and the feeling of it isnt that great..its pretty rough
|
You have to dye carpet, not just onces 2 or 3 times to make sure you get all the areas covered.
Spike I am sure u know what ur doing |
Go to micheals or fabric land. i got mine at micheals.
Mix it half and half in a spray bottle. shake it up and spray away. you can do it in the winter time. it has to dry outside or in your garage for 2 days. It looks like this https://www.bargainbox.com.au/images...0-%20Black.jpg But i needed 3 of these for my DC carpet(i obvisely didnt use green, just picture reference) https://www.ecoupons.com/show_image....000%2Fg578.jpg

thanks bro
|
no problem.
If you need a diy on how to take the carpet off, let me know. Youll have to cut your carpet behind your center console. because you do not want to take off your dash board, do you. |

Well here are some more pictures from yesturday working on the car. I got everything else stripped off the car that needed to come off. Got all the side moldings, side mirrors, and window molding that keeps the water out all off the car. I also removed the cluster and installed my real carbon fiber gauge bezel and put LED lights in it. Also got all the rubber window moldings taped up, and started doing the doors on the car. I also started to fit meshing into the front bumper, and removed the tail lights and the antenna. Here are the pictures.

SIIIIICK. Shave the sidemouldings pleaaaaaase. I really want to do that with mine. Now that you have yours off do it uppppp. You gonna paint the mesh black or keep it silver?
|
No I'm not shaving the moldings off, they look like ---- with them off, and it's a ---- load more work to fill the holes. I'm going to be painting the meshing black as well.
|
nice work...you gonna be shaving the atenna? i agree with vida should shave the side moulding tegs look sweet without them...i too will be shaving mine come spring.
|
nice work on the grill, you putting a lip on that?
|
Very nice, if I ever have to repaint the front bumper I'm going to put a grill similar to that. My brackets and the center strip that went across the middle of the "mouth" part of it are messed hard from the raccoon I hit a while back anyways.
Inspiring work. Keep it up. |

|
cant wait to see more pictures and the work thats being done to your car is amazing..as you said pros are doing it..how much would it have cost for the same job with a teg in similar condition as yours? and are you repainting black?
|

I had the side mouldings shaved on my old 96 teg years ago, the year after you could see where the work kind of sunk in a bit and you could see the holes, had to have the sides of the car redone again. I didn't shave the mouldings the next time.
Nice work by the way |
