Default intensive amount of pics of my db1 from oct05 till oct06 lol *pics, tons*

I purchased this db1 about three years ago for $1000. It needed some work. It was in a rear end collision prior to my ownership which was evident up until I had it repaired. There was so much bondo on both sides of the rear quarters that it began to crack and corroded underneath. Rust was pretty bad on the quarters as well as it corroded beneath the heavy bondo on both sides. Trunk lid was heavily corroded as well where all the emblems were and where the keyhole is. I don't have any pictures of it because I didn't have a camera at the time, and if i did have any, it was from a lousy camera phone.

Oct.05

There was heavy heavy corrosion all around the windshield, so that had to be repaired with metal/bondo.

had the antenna shaved, along with the emblems on the trunk (i should have had the holes for the spoiler shaved too)

There was also heavy corrosion underneath the passenger side rear door moulding, so new metal had to be welded on there (new metal was also welded on both rear quarters).

The taillights don't come on because the previous owner had them cemented on the actual rear frame..argh.

Keep in mind that my funds lacked very much at this point in time, so I was only able to afford to get all the rust removed and have the rear half of the car repainted.. I figured it was better to do it this way for the meantime because of the heavy heavy rust this car was suffering from..

at some point in time, i painted my wheels gold.

I was short cash so i had to sell those wheels (i really regretted selling them....) Had to resort to stockies for awhile.

Got rid of the stockies and picked up some other wheels (three different sets in three months during summer)!

Then I got my HID's with my diy glare gaurds lol

As you can see, I didn't do much to my db1 mechanically wise this whole year. in a nut shell, had the rust done, changed wheels three times in the summer, painted my hypeR lip, added a rear lip, got my hid's and leathers.. that's about it. If you haven't noticed, the rear of the car is flawless because of the work i had done to it, but the driverside rear door never got repainted, in fact, that door was repainted from a previous accident and was badly badly faded (poor repainting job from whoever did it). So technically, there were three different shades of Horizon Grey lol.

So now, I had the car go back to the shop and had originally planned on finishing the rest of the front half of the car with paint. Push come to shove, I just told my buddy to redo the whole car over again so this is where more pics come around..

Before you critisize, I know the 'proper' way of getting a car repainted. But I'll be honest with you, I simply don't have the amount of coin needed to have it done the real way (removing bumpers/lights/trims/hood etc etc). But I know the final product will be absolutely amazing!

Once again, back in the same shop, almost exactly a year later!

That is pretty much it for now until the car gets painted.. I'll try and get some pics of the painting process tomorrow.

thanks for all the comments everyone. i love this thing to death. everytime i watch overhaulin, i wish my whip was on that thing. lol

I'm keeping it the same colour.. i've always loved that colour and consider it to be the best (and rarest) looking colour for a g2..

when i went wingless for awhile, i simply used electrical tape to cover them up (you can see them if you look closely at the pics).

suspension is garbage.. arospeed coils with wornout shocks.. i've got a LOT of things to work on with this car.. does anyone have any spare parts? lol

ANDREW: i emailed those pics to hectarcious at hotmail dot comm. if you need me to email it to that other address, let me know.

can't wait to see the final product. definately a very clean DB. we gotta do a photoshoot

don't worry about having alot of things to work on. it's the reason why we call it a "project" and it only makes you feel better after you look back and realize what you've accomplished

i look back and realize how long i've been working on the car and slow the progress can be at times, sometimes even stopped . i'd always hear "you're actually gonna do that thing up?" or "this thing's ready to fall apart" or "get a new car" and it would get me down sometimes and i'd start getting pissed off. it only pushed me to work on it, not only to shut the haters up but to get closer to my goal to get what i want. every step of the way i step back take a look look at what' i've accomplished and say to myself "---- THE HATERS! my baby is getting done"

I remember when I spotted you on the 410 that one morning. I downshift just to catch up cause I saw that you were exiting.

From the quick glance I had of it then, it looked sweet, but of course I saw it from the rear.

Only thing I can recommend is changing the caliper colour from red to something like bronze, gold, black or silver. Never the less one of the better Gen2's I've seen around.

Nice work

yeah i remember that morning.. i was on my way to work exiting steeles. lol. i look in the rear view and i see this white dc coming... coming fast.. that's when i had the EL wheels on them. I hope i wasn't a snob.. i remember giving you a thumbs up..??? *scratches his head* lol

I want a TI sticker.

those calipers were painted red already when i bought the car... i've never gotten around to repainting them. I was going to repaint them black, or maybe bronze....

looks great bro, if the car is done right u shouldnt see rust resurface for a good while. My fathers truck was painted after a lot of rust formation, and the damn disease showed up again after a year and a half...i dont think it was done right. Anyways, try getting it crown rust proofed and u should be good

cheers

Damn, now thats dedication and love! If that was me I would have ditched it along time ago knowing how much rust it had. But it shows how much you love your car. Good luck on the project man and bring her out more often next season!
