Default Whats The Regular Idle Rpm?

So i picked up a 94 ls teggy, I'm wondering what it should idle at? Currently it's idling(is that even a word, it looks better than idleing ) at 1500 rpm steady, doesn't fluctuate. is this normal? it just seemed alittle high to me.

cheers folks

1500RPM does sound a bit high for idle. It could really be something as simple as the throttle cable being too tight.

For an LS idle should be 750rpm +/- 50rpm. Check for sticky or improperly adjusted throttle cable. A vacuum leak would cause the idle to go up and down repeatedly.

A) Vac. gauge- connects in line, has a hand pump to create a vacuum and a gauge to see is the vacuum stays in the lines.

B) Hose engine bay down with carb cleaner....break cleaner in a grid like fashion,
(Engine will stall or choke out when you find the leak.)

C) Use an unlit gas torch spraying in a grid fashion (Rpm will increase when you find the leak)

might need to change your IAC(idle air control) valve or fast idle valve
