Default vtec comparison: b16 vs b18c1 vs b18c5

i personally think the b18c5 sounds the best. Can the b18c1 or b16 vtec sound anything like the c5 with itr cams and IM?

Im getting a b18c1 next year so this is why i want to do my research first. b18c5 is over priced!

all input are appreciated. THanks!

So youre basing the purchase of a motor on sound?

For the sound and for all motor setup. I don't feel like spending an extra 4G for c5 when it only has 20hp more. Why not take that extra money and make the c1 sound better and faster.

yeah, everyone knows you can just slap a civic exhaust on the b-series to get that sweet sound of the d-series engine!

Weak?!?

Do some research before making a comment like that, otherwise you will look stupid (like you do now).

4G difference from C1 to C5 ...where are you getting these prices?

Bottom line: What exactly do you want out of your motor setup? Do you want more WHP? are you tracking it? autocross and faster grocery getter? Just to save money?

If you are doing for sound how nice it sounds then you definately need to spend your $ somewhere else.

Well i plan on finding a gs-r with the b18c1. GS-r with a c5 is hard to find and alot more expensive.C5+ tranny go for about 4-5 G doesn't it?
The car will be built for daily driving + track on the weekend..
I hope to get near the 200whp mark without FI

if you want better sound then you should change the intake/header/exhaust and get a set of good cams+tuning and it will sound way better than stock. you will probably get a headache but it will sound "cool"

k20 sounds better.
sounds like you are set on going with the gsr motor.
but seriously 200whp isnt necessarily cheap, so save up and dont cheap out.

whatever you get just throw on an intake, that'll sound coool

Just get yourself a looong stick and hang a rabbit from the end. Then get yourself a team of 12 greyhounds to pull your car. Now those dogs are stupid fast.
