Default Valvetrain and cam question

I just wanna know if it would be ok to use a different brand of retainers and valve springs with a different brand cam? For the skunk 2 Pro 1 cams they say that u need to use the skunk valvetrain kit but are they just trying to sell the kit or do I really need to get the skunk valvetrain kit?

you should try to use the same valve springs/retainers the cam manufacturer recommends.

but as long as you use good quality components i don't think you will have a problem.

I'd just like to add, to make sure that the max lift of the valvespring is higher/greater than the max lift of the cams your buying.

S2P1's and OmniPower VT here. no problems at all. plus, the OP's are a snap-in retainer for added safety.
