Default RPM guage going crazy!

Hey, this happened earlier today, and for the first time since having my Integra - 94 RS with about 336xxx km's: I was driving it, and then I noticed when I would clutch or even just give the car gas in neutral, the RPM guage would start jumping up and down like crazy all the way up to the 4-5000 RPM mark, however, the engine wasn't revving at all - the engine sounded fine if anything, the only thing is that the RPM guage would start jumping up and down after the gas pedal is depressed.

What could be the problem here?

I see, well I think it may have been something worse, because as I was driving my Integra home earlier this evening - I noticed the car was "choking" in a sense, it felt as if the gears were slipping, but the RPM's were bogging out. I pulled over to shut off the car and start it up again, but it wouldn't start. Well it would, but it would run for a few seconds then bog out again, but this time making a bellowing sort of sound. I tried starting it a few more times but got nowhere and had to get the car towed home.

Any ideas on what happened here? And can my car be saved?

you can try and start it till you're blue in the face, it won't solve anything. your battery and starter still work and the engine isn't locked up. the reason it's not firing is because there's no spark.

tow it to a mechanic if you don't believe me. i said in my previous post i had the same symptom. i changed one part and it stopped.

at a parts store. you'll have to call for pricing. could be anywhere between $50-150. depends on the make and where you get it from.
