HELP w/ JDM SRS Steering Wheel Install
Ok, here goes.
I was able to get the nut off successfully. Once i took off everything i was left with the cable reel and my jdm steering wheel that i took apart.
So when i go to install the jdm wheel, it doesn't slide in properly.
According to the Hanes manual, the arrow on the cable reel must be pointing up; however, once you make the cable reel point up, the connector that has the srs and horn is set up at a 45 degree angle. This fit the usdm wheel fine however the back of the JDM wheel makes it so that the connector must be flat.
Above is the back of the jdm srs steering wheel. If you notice the square box, this is where the connector must go through.
If i were to install the steering wheel with the cable reel pointing up, my steering wheel would be at a 45 degree angle.
I could install the steering wheel and move the cable reel, but then the cable reel would be at a 45 degree angle. Would that be dangerous? Would that cause the SRS airbag to deploy?
So basically, i'm asking if anyone has had this problem if they've installed the steering wheel themselves. Would it be bad to have the cable reel facing 3:00? Or am i missing something?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

are you using the hanes manual or the helms manual? you should really be sticking to the helms.

oops, sorry...i've been using the helms.
Your link actually gave me some insight to my question:
A member said the following:
And because the rods that are on the SRS reel fit into the USDM wheel at an angle, and they will have to go into he JDM wheel level (horizontaly) that the UP on the reel will be slightly to the right and will maintain 2 1/2 rotations in both directions so there will be no problem with the reel snapping. (The steering column only has 1 1/2 rotations to each side of center.) That is th reason peeps have problems with the signals not canceling, just remove as in the pic above and the world isa much safer place.
Helps make a lil' more sense of my situation. But i still wanna know if this will affect the airbag, and if it will deploy in my face all of a sudden.

yeah...i'm just waiting for the clarification....i have it set up right now so that the arrown on the reel is facing 3:00 instead up straight up (12:00) but haven't installed the airbag. Just scared it's gonna go BOOM!
