Default GSR Head Install

I'm about to buy a b18c1 dohc v-tec head for my 01 integra ls.

Was wondering how long it would take to get installed.

Just need an estimate from someone who has done this before or knows.

Thanks, Kang.

If you know what you are doing, 4-5 hours should be enough.

If you plan on just putting a VTEC head on a Stock LS block, don't waste your time. In order for you to get the most out the build, I would suggest at least getting Cams, Pistons, Rods as a bare minimum.

Dont fully agree. If you start with pistons, then you will want new rings, hone the block, then since you do all that you do bearings so you micropolish the crank and the job becomes few thousand just in the block.

Just head alone will increase cpr and also give more power...

Agreed. Slapping a gsr or b16 head onto your LS block will give you much better numbers, 30 to 40hp increase.

The better option but like martin said will cost you thousands of dollars would be upgraded pistons/rods/bearings/hone&deck/balance&micropolish crank/ are the things you would do to make better numbers its usually the difference between making 160hp and breaking the 200hp in an N/A build

Guess that's just me then... I personally got all the parts I needed to complete my build
Head Studs
Rod Bolts
Piston Rings
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Rods
Pistons
Gears

All for a total of $1,560. Did the work myself, and so far, car's running great...

Great job man, It can be done, and for reliablity, if your already building it it makes sense to build it that way, but it has been done with less is all I'm saying.
What type of pistons did you use, what timing belt/water pump combo?
Have you tuned it yet, and do you know what kind of power your putting down now?

Yea, I know it can be done for less... But Why not build it right the first time . I used P30 Pistons, GSR Timing Belt with Water Pump both OEM. Haven't tuned yet, but I am running a Chipped P28. No idea on power either, hoping to get it tuned before August. All I know is this thing is a beast lol. Acceleration is great and VTEC kicks hard. Can't wait to see what It'll do after tuning. Next motor to build is the B16 I got from you . Putting that in a Civic Si for Winter.

lol I'm glad that b16 went to a good home. I know what you mean though. When I did my motor build I built my block from the ground up with new parts, but to each his own right.

So youbare talking about doing it right the first time yet you didnt even tune the car? Hmm smart...and if you swapped pistons, why not go with high compression pistons? 10.8:1 -11:1?? Seems like a waste

Well there budday, I build MY motor based on how I wanted it. All I know is that I wouldn't just "slap" a head on a block and call it that. As for Tuning, it's coming. Don't recall I ever said I was finished with the build.

All im saying is, its a waste to go with p30 pistons. If you are swapping pistons, why do it half *** right? Do it once, do it right. You swapped the pistons on rods, could have just gotten new pistons for few hundred bucks.

Actually bro... I got those pistons installed on new eagle rods. I had them laying around and just used them. Besides, new pistons was going out of my budget.

You just contradicted yourself. I thought it was all about just doing it right the first time, regardless of the cost. Meh...either way, be a smart cookie and go get tuned before you pop it and then complain about ls-v not being a reliable project
