ok my light came on in burlington and i made it all the way to north brampton no prob (after making a detour down derry to find gas, but i didn`t have my wallet on me :S)

after filling it up with the needle so far buried that it wasn`t even registering on the gauge anymore (i drove for i ---- you not 65k with the light on) i managed to squeeze only 40.3 litres into her and it was right full. so i`d say i definitely have a forty liter tank

dimasbenz 09-23-2009 09:43 AM

ya my brother said once the light comes on
i can go to niagra falls and back maybe he overexdurated a bit
but i know u can drive it for a while with the gas light on

lol you squeezed 40.3 litres into it, and you only have a 40L tank? Are you sure it was bone dry, did you run out of gas?

Am I missing something here?..the size of the tank is 50L, I dont think anyone with half a brain would dispute that, its listed right in the manual, no need for guess work.

I would say you could easily get to Niagara from T.O. doing normal highway speeds, but I wouldnt risk it much further than that.

Looool. From Toronto to Niagara falls ey?

Anyone wanna test that on the cruise on the 4th? LOOL

dimasbenz 09-23-2009 11:55 PM

yeah when i pulled into the station it was stuttering. and i overfilled the tank a bit. kinda spilled out.

why the hell would honda make the fuel light come on when you still have over a quarter tank? doesn't really make sense.

i'm not disputing the manual, i'm just telling what happened. if it is 50 then how come my car pretty much died at the gas station then filled up with 40.3l? ..........

dimasbenz 09-24-2009 11:53 AM

i put a short ram intake into my car
and im guessing its gonna kill more of my gas now ? is that true
maybe minor changes?

Actually it makes perfect sense, Honda, (and every other car manufacturer out there) is alerting you, that you are running low on fuel and down to your last 1/4 tank - or in this case 1/5 tank. There would be no point turning on the fuel light when the tank is near dry, as in many cases there would be nothing you can do about it.

Maybe you have a different size tank for some reason, I've also never really heard of "over-filling" with fuel splashing out. There are supposed to be safeguards that totally eliminate that.

k well i already have had my light on for 21 kms. and i have some gas in a jeery can so ill let you guys know how long mine goes... its a 1993 with a b18a so its comparable to the rest of you. although, i know this is not good for your car lol, so this better end it all lol and not have to do it again lol.

XNXIXTXRXOX 09-25-2009 10:53 AM

so far ive drove 41 kms, in street so stops and go's and some traffic. i put 3.8 litres in at 38 kms just to see, and my low fuel light cam on like right 2 kms later. so obviously it has a fair bit in there when the light goes on cus 4 litres made it pretty much stay on.

dimasbenz 09-25-2009 02:19 PM

GOOD INFO
keep it coming

XNXIXTXRXOX 09-25-2009 06:20 PM

k so i've gone 61 kms. but to be honest, i had to go to an interview today at a shop and i didnt want to be late or run out so i put 20 in... dam. but still 61 and it didnt die is a lot. ill try it now 100% with my tank now. i only got like 3/5ths in there so ill keep you guys posted.

teah thats true. too be honest i'm kinda confused now. cause i just drove over 80k with my fuel light on..... all the way from TO until niagara...... needle was so buried that it wasn't even on the guage anymore...

maybe my light is just messed.... i dunno

XNXIXTXRXOX 09-27-2009 03:07 PM

yea i got to 76 and it stopped on me, but then start right up again, but i just put gas in cus its soooo bad for your fuel pump to run it dry :D

dimasbenz 09-27-2009 05:11 PM

nice info
always good to know

dimasbenz 10-03-2009 12:37 PM

okay so i filled up again this time to full tank
but the first half (half to full tank) i only got around 175 km's
all yall is saying how u get 200-250 for sure
i did no highway driving.. and i didnt floor it ALL the time.
so im just wondering if im tripping out, or is there something i should be looking into to replace

XNXIXTXRXOX 10-03-2009 07:23 PM

highway is where you get the best milage. street driving it all isnt too bad getting 175. but i got 620 once on full tank but that was like all highway and driving with fuel in mind.

have you done emissions?

dimasbenz 10-04-2009 03:10 PM

yes i did !
and i didnt do any highway driving lately
so i guess its all good

XNXIXTXRXOX 10-04-2009 10:01 PM

if you have high HC ratings then you would be running rich. but since you pased you should be good.

just dont drive as hard. you use a lot more gas when you drive hard.

dimasbenz 10-04-2009 11:48 PM

ya i know i figured it out
but its fun to drive a teg fast
mine is auto so i have to have some fun .. lol

XNXIXTXRXOX 10-05-2009 04:00 PM

lol, yea, i have standard, and it still is sometimes hard to not want to rip it. eh, i guess me being broke helps, cus i never want to chew up gas lol. wow thats said, to broke to go fast. i feel like a bum.... :)

dimasbenz 10-05-2009 05:02 PM

lol ur like my bro
but he works just to put his civic on the road
always broke with no gas but once he will finish oh boy will that car be crazy

dimasbenz 10-18-2009 11:59 AM

okay on a half a tank i got 360 km goin to niagara falls there and back
with 90% highway driving
so i think everything is okay with my gas mileage

BlackAck 01-18-2010 09:07 PM

I find that these cars are amazing on fuel. My 98 gs gets like 450 a tank i punch it and have a cracked cat. And still get good numbers
