hey wildout, i've been using this stuff for years now, i've nottice my engine running alot smoother and alot more quite, no where in my years of using have i ever did an oil change where the oil came out like that. and there's actually 2 versions, 1 is a non-synthetic formula and another is a synthetic formula. i run mobil 1 5w30 synthetic with lucas in my civic and in my integra. and never have i had any problems with lucas.
perhaps he tested with the non-synthetic lucas with synthetic oil. who knows.

Nautica this is for gear oils. For your transmission. I have no clu what it would do to motor oil, but I just would like to put the warning out there.

That is all.

yeah but you see anytime somebody posts up lucas oil they never define as a "gear" oil additive, they only say lucas don't use it.

and the tests that bob did he used "heavy duty oil stabilizer" they have gear oil synthetic and non and synthetic/non oil stabilizer.

so i don't know how relevent his tests are, but who knows. and the type of oil he used was alot thicker. if you read the thread inside that article, there is a lot of debates that go on stating how his past tests were relevent either, but who knows, i dont' use it for tranny oil anyhow, i use my gm snynchromesh

and bob is also a Schaeffers salesmen appearantly.

iunno, take a read at the forums alot of replies from it.

I read the forums as it seems you have as well.

Then you would also know that, the rig bob made up in the post it is the exact same as the display cases in crappy tire. The only difference is the motor attached.

Another thread about the lucas gear oil, even though the pic doesn't work any more, you can tell from the replies it wasn't pleasant.

http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...5;t=002696;p=0

Also the difference between the Schaeffers salesmen (Bob) and Lucas is that Scaeffers says exactly on the website how they test there product. I couldn't find any of that info on the lucas website.

I dunno, I don't use either.

I believe in using a proper oil for the job, not all people believe this however.

And I think that's the point. Why pay $8 per quart to thicken up an oil ... when you could simply choose a thicker weight of oil to begin with?

yeah i saw that post as well, pictures dont' work like you said, read that, they also complained in that post that he only idled for 15 mins. and that it wasn't put on any loads. but to the contrary, its a highly and on going debate about the oil, i've never tried it, but its very mis informed, b-cuz majority of people who swear by them use them in engine oil not tranny.

and on the CT/gear test, they stated that the tests were not as valid because a proper percentage might not have been added and speeds were not controlled or perhaps it was but not noted and how long they were going for, perhaps the oil in the gears did not get to its optimized temperature or he added the oil when it was hot, who knows, and he never ever replied back, and perhaps it only interactive with those oils. i mean anything is posible right, i mean those guys at NHRA wouldn't be using this ---- if i did that to there cars.

who knows...
just a side note, not bashing your thread at all.

Oh I never thought you were bashing the thread at all, but brought up good questions.

Just wanted to put it out there, that is all.

well in that demo, they use 15w40 oil, which is thick already, then added lucas to it

in my opinion, i have been useing lucas in my teg, and people can vouch for this, i barely burned oil.

been using lucas for a while, and am using it currently in my civic, i feel the car runs better with it

i will continue to use lucas, cause i believe in it.

i just did an oil change, and the oil never comes out white, or frothy.

im not sure as to what is actually better or not.

for me i will continue to use lucas
