Default cylinder misfire

i have started to hate my teg. lol anyways...my engine came on today and detected cylinder 3 misfire. i am assuming spark plugs need to be replaced along rotor and distributor. i have the car for about a year now and i have not changed spark plugs until now and sure if previous owner did it either. the question is, is it a good idea to buy the NGK Platinum spark plugs and NGK wires? do u guys think i shall replace distributor and rotor as well at the same time? what advices can you guys give me on distributor, rotor and spark plugs?

thank you

Most like cause of a misfire in my experience is the cap or wires.

The cap and rotor are cheap, just replace them both.

Wires can be expensive, so see how it goes after replacing the cap/rotor.

I have had this same problem on my 98 GSR, #3 misfire.
I changed plugs, wires, cap rotor and still get this CEL from time to time..

start with plugs. if you wanna be sure of what plug to use, look on the sticker on the under side of your hood. it'll give you the NGK part number. make sure they're gapped correctly too

Get ngk Iridium plugs and gap them .5 below specs. I took ngk courses so I know all the benifits and secrets of ngk. If you need to know anything else you can pm me

isn't gapping iridium plugs bad since you can destroy the electrode?

Personally i've had the best sucess on the dyno with copper core NGK's.

I prefer OEM plug wires, cap and rotor. NGK would be my next choice if price was an issue b/c OEM stuff can be expensive.

how does gapping help though? the owner's manual suggests 1.1mm plugs gap for my integra but that specs are for b18b, i currently have a b20b so could same gap still work for it?

yeah if you need to gap them use side cutters to pry it up because those tips are super sensitive

you are right! the gap is same. its 0.44 (1.1m). how does gapping below or above specs affect?
