Default Cost for Brake Replacement

I'm interested to find out how much you all would pay for the following, I brought my own calipers that I purchased before going to the shop. I'm sure they used the cheapest brand new blank rotors and pads, nothing fancy -at all- So basically, the guy installed my calipers (that I brought), some new blank rotors and pads for the rear end.. and that's it.

How much would this cost you at your shop or on average do you think? Or do you do this yourself for free?

I'd do it myself for free.

At a shop, maybe 250-500 depending on where you go. cause they need to bleed the brakes too which adds to labour costs. are you planning to get this done or are you comparing to what you paid?

You've bled brakes and done all that too? I figured it would be easy as hell to install aside from the brake bleeding.. its just bolts otherwise and putting in the pads, I could do that.

and I'm asking to compare to what I paid.. I know I didn't get ripped off.. but I was just curious what a good comparison of cost would be for the average shop.

Also, nizmo your experienced with 240sx's right? Depending on the car I pick up, I think I'm going to start asking for people's help to fix problems to do with my cars by myself from with some help from regular guys like you guys. TBH, I'd rather learn.. know how to do it myself.. purchase tools even for myself.. because they are never a waste of money.. like paying a shop ridiculous labour costs when all it takes is time to do it, which I have tons of. Probably a good idea? I think so. I'm not the most knowledgable person when it comes to cars, but I learn quick and learn best by doing things hands on.. so I'd rather chill with some cool guys, make some friends, and wrench on a car and I'm more than willing to help anyone fix cars, it seems so interesting and fun to me regardless of the job..

So yeah, expect some requests from me in the future for some help, I'll provide the parts and the beer, you lend me your brain. :P

No worries man. Im a Nissan guy at heart, owned many of them in the past...simple as ---- to work on. Ive done motor swaps, tranny swaps and even little maintenance ---- like brakes and suspension. Its really not that hard when you know what your doing of course lol. 240sx's are easy to wrench on, simple like honda's.

oh btw, the only thing that im not comfortable doing is wiring, when i did my NX motor swap, i left the wiring for a good friend mine to do LOL! I know my weakness and wiring is one of them.

Brake work is very easy to do and by doing it yourself you will save a lot over time. On average depending on the shop. I worked for a dealer and for front caliper, pads and rotors just labor would be about 150.00 plus any parts that would be required. I know most shops would be lower but that’s a dealership raping as normal.

Yea I will let you all know, it depends what I get the best deal on.. it'll either be a Civic, Integra, 180sx or 240sx. I think I should know how much I will be getting on probably Tuesday or Wednesday (finally) so I'll be able to actually begin shopping around for something sick. So I'm hoping the week after I'm cash in hand and good to go lmao.

I'm nothin' but JDM dude. But I wouldn't convert a 240 into a 180.. waste of money, they already look incredibily similar lol. Like I said, depends on the deal I find.. I'm gonna drop an SR20DET into the car, half popped headlights.. ya know?

That's about the jist of it, minus the WHITE rims. :S

Yep, looks amazing, cheap to do. Only thing on that car really (esthetics wise), that would even be expensive is the GT Wing.. rest of it can be done for minor $$ just like a teg
