This started yesterday, I was at a red light, and when it turned green I stuck it in first, tried to move and the car just died on me...but then it wouldn't want to start after that. It eventually started again after like 2 minutes or so. I played around with the distributor wires, doubt that did anything but it started after that. It also stalled again that night, again coming off a stop. But today...it died on me while I was in 2nd just before I shifted into 3rd....my friend tells me it's my distributor cap and rotor? He says there's possible corrosion...But I'd like to hear other things if any before I replace them.

my beater has this issue, but it stutters, and sometimes stalls when it shifts (auto).
could be a lot of things, but the obvious place to start is the cap and rotor.
