You can change the pads, so product less dust then others... There is detailing products that can be applied to the RIM which will prevent the dust from sticking.

Change to crappier brake pads and you'll have less dust.

You are incorrect.

The professional trick is to remove excess Tire Shine from the wheel itself. Brake dust will stick to Tire Shine, causing your wheels to dirty prematurely. To prevent this, you should dry the tire, apply Tire Shine to the tire (being careful not to spray the wheel) and then go back and wipe off any overspray with a clean, dry cloth. The other professional trick is to now wax the wheel. We recommend Showroom Spray Wax for this because of the speed of application. However, any wax or sealant will work.

No, wax will have the opposite effect.
Wax (real waxes) containing carnauba actaully attract dust more than an unwaxed surface. Can't recall where I read that.

You'd be better to Zaino your rims, or some other sealant product w/o carnauba.

Now if he wanted something that is easier to wash of, yes put a sealant type wax on the rims, zanio, klasse etc. Caranuba won't work it'll attract dust. Same with wiping off tire dressing, only some attract dust, but not all. So wipe it off the rims like you said anyways.

Aftermarket brake pads like EBC green stuff and PBR Metal Masters are also easier to wash off the brake dust, but there is still no product that will stop the brake dust from sticking.

 

Guys, I worked at a detailing shop for a few years, you are correct, the optimal item to use would be a synthetic wax / polish. However, I have used Caranuba based waxes... It does not last nearly as long, but it will do the trick....

If all you have at hand is caranuba, then use it... make sure it is completely dry before driving the car.....

In fact, Diamond Kote (Company From Vancouver) made a two stage product. A chemical that would negatively charge a rim, then the polish would be positively charged.... Once applied it would last a year, depending on how often you wash the rims....

 

isnt there a black plastic disc u place behind the wheel to keep dust from comin out?...seen it at crappy (but i think it was for hubcaps only )...made me laff my *** off...totally defeats the purpose of having holes to allow proper air flow or act as a fan...
