Default Power Windows/Locks/Mirrors not working after door replacement

Ok guys, I know this is going to be a simple one but bare with me here...

I picked up a set of doors since mine had rotted bottoms to them. I have a 97 and the doors came off a 98+... took me a bit, but I saw I had to swap wiring harnesses. No problem...

So the problem is, it power locks, but when you go to unlock, it clicks then clicks lock again. It wont keep it unlocked. Power windows dont work either, same with mirrors. The side mirrors did briefly before putting the panel back on, but now they dont.

The problem of the locks actually happened before I even took the old door off. I swapped the box from each of the doors thats right beside the handle, that didnt solve it.

Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks

I've had the issue with the door locks once, but it went away. Seemed that for some reason it didn't like to lock/unlock while the door was open. I could never figure out why.

As for your issue, I would double check the harnesses going into the boxes - because if you've changed the boxes and the problem persists I would think it's not those causing the problem. But in any case double check that they're in properly and snapped into place, and no wires are frayed or disconnected.

Hope that helps some!

I think its cause of the Molex connector in the door jam itself. It was too dark and cold for me to care last night. Not like I use the power locks anyways! I will play around with it tonight and see if thats the cause...thanks for the quick help!

So I fiddled with the molex connecter, it was loose. Got the locks and side mirrors working but not the windows. Checked fuses, replaced the actual switch and still nothing... doesnt work on either side. Any ideas?

Double check the plugs into the bottom of the window switches, I've had failure due to that being loose.

I'm glad to hear you have at least part of the problem solved! The locks are useful lol.

Also perhaps check that the power window motor hasn't become disconnected or anything in the door swap. If all internals worked before, the only thing it could be is wiring, theoretically, right?

Well, the wiring harness was swapped over since I have a 97 and the doors are from a 98+... so the only thing is the motor itself BUT neither door works, so its not that.

I swapped out the actual switch box for the windows with another set I have... no luck. Plus, I kept the panels from my original doors since they have better inserts haha...

Only thing I could think of is a pin in the molex connector still off. I checked all fuses and they werent broken. I looked at all the 20a ones under the dash. Didnt see any under the hood that would apply to the windows.

I replaced the hatch the other day too, but the windows worked after that.

You're right. Locks are important, but now no drive throughs until I get this sorted LOL.... thanks so much for the replies. No one on **** has even replied lol...

Went to the junkyard today and pulled a couple harnesses that were in very good condition... swapped and all works! Felt awesome to have my windows back haha.. now to do the passenger side door tomorrow.

That's awesome! Strange, must have been something internal in the switchboxes.

I'm glad you got it fixed! Enjoy haha

Thanks! Now only if it would stop raining so I can get my passenger door done. Every piece of glass has been cleared from that horrible 90's purple tint except the passenger door haha. I will have to take pics once its done of the Frankenwhip lol...
