Hey Guys,

Well my brake lights haven't been working since the winter. I finally got around to checking it out, all the bulbs are fine but one. Which doesn't make sense because then my other brake light would still be working! But they're completely out. for reference, i did remove my 3rd brake light since it was on my stock spoiler, but i never had a problem with my tail light brake lights.

Also, my right signal is out. The bulb is fine. Before winter, it wasn't working one week, but mysteriously was working for the next 3 weeks. But then winter hit, it stopped working, up to now.

Anyone have any ideas?? Im not a wire wizard, so i wouldn't dare mess around with the wires....

are there fuses, cause i checked inside the car and in the engine bay, maybe im blind but i never saw a fuse relating to brake lights

 

Check your fuse box under the steering wheel area....its kinda hidden for obvious reasons...

 

know realy the horn and brake lights share the same (constent hot) fuse its undernethe hood if one fo the hornes has shorted it will nock out the brake lights

i have had to disconect the hornes until i can replace them

A lot of problems can be traced to bad grounds be sure to check those. A shop manual should help you find them all. Check the fuses obviously. Pull all the connectors to the lights in question and look for corrosion. It's not uncommon for one connection on a 4-plug connector to corrode. Another method to tracking down shorts is to use a voltmeter to see if there are any drains on your battery. With the ignition off remove the negative terminal. Put one of the voltmeter connectors on the negative ground cable and the other on the negative terminal of the battery. Your voltmeter should read zero or close to zero if you have an alarm. If it doesn't, start pulling fuses one at a time until you find the one(s) that are pulling current. Check to see what those fuses power and start your search for a short there. Also, if memory serves me, I had a glitch with my electrical system a while back that was traced to a relay. I "believe" all the lights are attached to 2 relays. Replace one and see if that helps, then try another. See if those tips help. If none of those things fixes it, send it to the dealer and let them sort it out. Good luck.
