so i installed my new in-dash dvd player deck today, after a little while the car was running perfect everything worked until about a hour ago when i noticed my dimmer lights just suddenly switched off. i checked the instrumental light fuse and its not blown. when i turned the dimmer lights on nothing happens ( both corner lights dont light up, tail lights dont light up, interior doesnt light up). could this be the dimmer switch thats blown? if so where should i take it to for repair? thanks

I had the same thing happen to me may be the same mabye not.
Check your alternator!

 

while installing the deck i did wire an orange wire by accident i believe that was the dimmer wire and probably blew the dimmer. anyone know if my assumption sounds right?

 

well i never connect the dimmer wire, but one time i tried and all lights on the dash went out. i quickly shut ignition off and pulled the wires apart and everything was back to normal...

lol ya i think i burned the dimmer switch cause when i wired the orange wire the car was on cause i was trying to get the dvd to play while the car was still on ( yes i kno thats illegal but i get bored on road trips ). but ya i found someone on kijiji for a dimmer switch for 10 bucks, so hopefully thats what i need, if not then it has to be a fuse what else could is possibly be..

 

ok got a new dimmer switch, still doesnt work....does anyone know where i can bring my car in to get it fixed? or does anyone wanna fix it for me and ill pay them. thanks ( i need this fixed asap otherwise i cant drive at night)
