Hey guys I've been reading on other threads about clutch engagement (the DA drives completely different then the mustang) but basically my clutch engages basically right at the end in like 1 inch of space. Now the clutch doesn't seem to be slipping but at the same time I was just thinking of replacing it, but before I do that I was wondering if there is anyway of adjusting the clutch pedal so it can release earlier instead of at the end.

Bump for anyone dying with this issue lol, I was playing around today and figured it out. No need to play with the clutch pedal assembly, If you follow the clutch cable in your engine bay it goes into the tranny. Just outside where it enters the tranny is a black plastic nut looking thing. I turned this nut thing all the way right until it wouldn't go any further, sure enough the clutch now engages mid way instead of at the end!

 

lol ya thats right your clutch cable is adjustable obviously your cable is stretched from to many power shifts if you had to adjust it all the way to max i would recomend buying a new one so that you can get proper adjustment and so that one doesnt snap and leave you stranded somewhere

 

ah maybe I'll go loosen it abit lol and buy a new one, I don't think they're too pricey.

 

they are cheap under $50

yeah its literally a 5 second fix lol. Still gonna replace the clutch cable too scared now.

LOL Speak of the devil... The dam cable snapped on me today when I was pulling a uturn lol I did the grindy shift into second and then the puddle just went straight to the floor lol. Sooooo lucky I was able to get it into second and limp to my parts dealer's parking lot

sorta out of topic but still regarding clutch... i didt trans fluid replacement and afterwards i flushed my clutch fluid... and it feels soft like when you press the pedal, no pressure at all like a new car (lol)..but it goes in gears no problem... is this normal?..

 

Pat, that's a weird event! But at least you got it all okay, hopefully got the clutch cable replacement started! Should be good to go afterward.

@ Aldrine, it could have some air in the lines that compresses when you press the pedal down. Is it a consistent soft or just sometimes?

Lol it probably just felt different then what you were used too. Hence why you thought there might of been a problem.

Lol I feel you man, same thing with me. But I would of just guessed it was air in system. I'm gonna be doing the clutch on my car soon, does anyone know a decent shop to take it too? I've been getting some crazy qoutes, I'd do it myself but a clutch is just abit too much over my head lol.

You can do it yourself if you had a hoist it's so much easier just taking the motor out from our hondas.

 

Pressure coming and going = air in the lines. Get that thing re-bled lol

 

so you're saying to just take the whole tranny/motor out? and then disconnect the tranny from there?

 

It makes it so much easier to work on. You got what 5 motor mounts and then just unplug the wiring and your golden. 4-5 hours of work. If everything goes smooth.

 

Yeah, i did a clutch job on a civic few weeks back, took us 5.5h in and out.

Unless you have a hoist, its easier to just yank the engine out. Can easily be done in 2h to pull the sucker out. Gives you a chance to put some new fresh coolant in the system also

If you do have a hoist, then its easier to just drop the tranny down, since if the car is on axle stands you really dont have much room to get it out and then install/align it all up again.

 

Ah cool, yeah I have no experience with swaps or removing engines lol. I'll most likely be pm'ing you in a month or so after I get a few parts coming in and hopefully we can work something out.
