70-200 f2.8 IS on the 40D with a 550 EX with gary fong diffuser
85 f1.2 on the 1d MK III with 580 EX with gary fong diffuser

Thanks...

I assumed the 70-200 2.8 again since someone mentioned that last time, but also suspected something different there.

Flash on camera with the Lightsphere? I've got one too. Haven't found much use for it as a ceiling bounce diffuser, always seems to sap too much power. Works great for straight ahead though, again within reason.

Knowing how to use the diffuser just comes with practice. I don't bounce off the ceiling anymore, I use the diffuser without finding that it saps too much power.

Yeah, I figured thats what it would come down to, practice practice practice...

I just don't shoot enough with the external flash period.

That said, I just got a Demb Flip-it to try out. I have this feeling its going to suit what I'm after a bit more.
