if you wanted the 50d, you should've considered the 40d or 30d even

Set it to M. Decide which is more important...the aperture or shutter speed...set it accordingly (or to what you want) press down on the shutter half way..check & set the exposure and press the shutter down all the way.

Go from there After i learned the concept of shooting in M it became more fun learning little things along the way and online.

Lol... Just saying, it took me about a year until I could honestly say I was comfortable with my D200. Add a SB-800 to the mix and its a whole new ball game.

Might want to pick up a pocket wizard or two while you are at it, while I continue along triggering my remote flash using commander mode :P

On a more serious note, the smaller Canon bodies just don't feel comfortable to me, and the menus are well weird, but I got started using Nikon so...

Its all about the lenses now for me... I already have the 12-24 F4, give me a 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8VR and I'll be happy

I'd have to agree with the feel of the camera.. As for menus I personally like the canon more then nikon. But thats just personal preferance more then anything else. Im looking into the 40d or if I have the coin a 50d for next year. Slightly bigger and more of a sturdy feel. And for some reason I like the fact that there is a lcd display on the top as well. Makes it handy when the camera is on a tripod.

Yeah, I don't believe I've held any of the xxD body Canons, just xxxD bodies and a 1dMk3 which is a nice ------- camera no matter what you like. I probably wouldn't mind the xxD bodies either.

I'm with you on the status LCD. I simply don't like having to use the big power hungry LCD on the back to change a setting. I played with a buddies D60 and that was the most frustrating part about the camera for me.

If you took that outside that turned out pretty bright for a 1 second shutter speed :S

Looks like you were taking a pic of the road when a car drove by? lol

First pic is way too dark. Your on the right track with the second. I like it! Would make a huge difference if you had a speedlight. But good nevertheless.
