Default g3 rear speaker problem

i am planning to replace my stock rear speaker to some aftermarket speakers. but i heard it could be too shallow to mount the speakers. what can i do to fit aftermarket speakers easily? would any 3/8" spacer work? thanks for your answer
also what kind of 6.5 speakers would sound good ?

too shallow...? im not sure if im misreading it but try detaching the black side panels... theyre just clip ons. thats how i put on my rear speakers.
btw, i put on 4 alpine speakers that only cost me $200 total. they do the job quite well.
