Yup, China and Korea have built and manufactured very large x-ray type machines to duplicate the technology of other automakers and are fed into autocad. R & D couldn't be any easier.

here's a counterfeit of the isuzu rodeo/honda passport.

the automaker is called jlangling and the model is called Landwind

pretty isn't it?

here's a shot of the Landwind during the crashtest in germany..

quote:

The results of the German ADAC test which is comparable to European NCAP safety standards in areas of passanger cabin protection was ZERO out of 5. It was so bad that even airbags were deemed useless. The passenger cabin completely collapsed on collision.

Hyundai does this all the time. I've noticed hyundai uses "styling cues" from the accord and jaguar.

^^ Its one thing to use styling cues, AKA the bangle trunk rip off that most car manufacturers are using now, but its another thing to copy the design almost in its entireity.

i guess it was only a matter of time. There should be some laws against that, i wonder how much they cost tho, but with such poor safety standards no matter how cheap they were i'd never risk getting them.

^^ :wtf:

I'd still buy one for half the price... so long as it's reliable. The BMW price tag would hurt more than the impact of the accident

Considering that a lot of aftermarket spare parts are made in China this manufacturers buy them cheap and simply weld them together. This explains low prices and poor crash test results.

I'm seen it before. They're not allowed to be sold in North America I believe, for sure not Canada since the crash test ratings are so poor.
