Not sure man. Tyson in his prime with no gloves on (MMA Style gloves, basically nothing) could knock people out and / or cause more permanent damage with just one punch.
I wouldn't shoot in on Tyson, plus teach him how to sprawl the shoot.... I think he would do well.
Tyson just seemed like a fear-less gorilla and with those punches coming in from ever different angle... crap... It be tough for the other fighter...of course once you shoot in and take him down, he's done.

1 Dimensional Boxers never do well in MMA... Watch Kit Cope vs. Kenny Florian if you don't believe me... that guy is a multiple time world champion thai boxer... gets his *** beat badly by Kenny Florian who is a pretty crappy fighter.
Just because you wouldn't shoot in on him, doesn't mean I wouldn't.
Tyson would be ------ ----.
THAILAND BARE KNUCKLE CHAMPION 2004
4 TIME WORLD CHAMPION
TITLES HELD @ JR. WELTERWEIGHT
WELTERWEIGHT
JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT
Other:
2 TIME NEVADA STATE WRESTLING CHAMPION
CALIFORNIA STATE WRESTLING RUNNER UP
MEMBER OF THE 1995 US KICKBOXING TEAM
and this guy beat his *** with his BJJ skills

yea i would agree with jaybro...if you have a fighter with all his skills in stand up, all it takes is one slip, one punch/kick/elbow/knee to shake him up a bit, and he is down and dead on the ground...

Tysons striking abilitys are still far beyond ANY MMA competitor boxing wise. He would have to train hard in submission defense, and submission skills in general. I dont ever see it happening, ever. Still not a man on the planet which Mike Tyson cant knock out if he gets his shots in.
Mike Tyson is the most devastating force I have ever seen in boxing. But his time has past and it may be far too late to start a MMA career and be successful. The money may be there.....Id pay to watch him fight Tim Sylvia, Arvloski, Abbott etc.
I have watched MMA and not sure what it is, however, I dont see these fighters move as well as a pro boxer. I watch guys like Winky Wright, Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr., etc, etc and their movements, side to side, angles, head / body, footwork all make most of these MMA guys look like kids..
Anyhow it would be interesting.

That being said, ground fighters are very hard for strikers to defend against. So when it goes to the ground and it most probably will, Tyson will be done like a TV dinner.

I just watched the Kit Cope vs. Kenny Florian fight.... if that guys is a world class Thai fighter... then he deserved to loose.
The guy threw maybe 2 kicks and one or two elbows thats it... he stood right in front of Kenny Florian (who as you mentioned is not the best of fighters). No movement and hardly any striking...
If you want to prevent a person from shooting in, you need to make them think twice about rushing and you dont do that by standing in one spot and not throwing anything.
In MMA matches, I think ground technicians do have the upper hand, no question but that fight was a crap example. I never heard of Kit Cope, (which means nothing) his stats are impressive to say the least, however what was he thinking in this fight.. I think he under-estimated Kenny Florian.

I know for a fact Greco because great boxers have been humbled by BJJ fighters many times before... You can't stand up and throw like you can in boxing when you have the fear of being taken down... You guard changes, your offence changes, your defence changes GREATLY, your game plan changes, your cardio changes, etc... It is a totally different fight, and Mike Tyson would get a beat down.
P.S. Remember little factors like weight classes... and you are comparing Mike Tyson in his prime... so if you want to compare the "Best Heavyweight boxer" vs. the "Best Heavyweight MMA fighter" you would be comparing Mike Tyson vs. Fedor Emeliankenko.... Fedor would end Tyson's career.
