Default Some recent pics... and a couple older ones

Just sharing some recent pics and some old ones I dug up.

Rachel showing some pictures to her horse:

Rachel on Sunday taking a stroll through the garden:

Well I sold my 2nd camera and picked up my new lens (400mm 5.6L). I'll likely be using this lens mostly for birding, so I figured I'd try it out there first. Here are a couple shots from my first day with it.

Here's an interesting bug that I captured a little while ago but hadn't gotten around to preparing the image until tonight. I think it’s a juvenile and not sure what it will grow into.

I put this image together last year and had it printed and mounted. The print was 4 feet wide and is hanging at my office (the dog in the photo is belongs to my boss). Not sure if I posted it here before so I thought I'd share it:

those birds are probably tiny.. but they look like some killers with claws that could rip apart a moose.

Those are nice shots Doug, I like what you are doing, expanding the canvas, and drop shadow. Still need a little more DOF on the mantis shot though F11 left you with lots more room to stop the lens down.

BTW, if you don't want people to see your exif data, use the save for web option

Of course you'll have to drive as fast or faster then the dog to pull the effect off

Wayne, you and your obsession with DOF LOL! I could be taking pictures of a brick wall and you’d still be after me... No worries with the exif info, I'll keep it unhidden so that you can see what I'm doing How you making out with the macro lens... haven't seen any posts lately...

Cameras are at Canon for cleaning. Too scared to wipe the CCD myself , and I might sell the 10D in anticipation of getting the 1DMKII, so I wanted it cleaned.

You'll see some more birding shots from me soon. Once it gets cold, we go out birding. I don't know if I have the patience for macros though, I might sell that lens and get something else.

I can understand what you mean about cleaning the sensor, its not for the faint of heart.

The 1DMKII will be a very nice addition to your collection. I'm sure the not "N" versions are going cheaper now making them that much more attractive. I'm going to wait until I see what canon does with the 20D's successor and decide what to do. The 5D or the "30D" will likely be my next bodies (which is one reason why I sold my spare).

Don't give up on Macro! the great thing about it is there is almost always something to photograph. You just got to look for all the interesing little things that are everywhere.
