Biggie, imo, is not the best but he's definately up there.

I can listen to Ready to Die all day, everyday.

Hah; I don't think he's the worst. Far from it. Some of his lines are just plain sick - he has a wicked live energy. The title for worst is definitely in Noreaga or Ja Rules court.

Sampling of Ja Rules skillz:

"What can I say? I was raised as an only child - LONELY!" I mean - seriously man? I bet his boys in the studio at the time were just like... woah... maybe we need to start looking for another rapper to swing shirts around for...

Most of dipset is pretty terrible when it comes to lyrics.

"I have a whole selection of my whole collection for my whole selection of my whole collection"

Biggie is the greatest in my books.... his lyrics were just incredible... sure there are others that are great lyricist's , Kanye, common, mos def, NAS but all of them look up to bigs. Let me ask this... who was the better lyricist? Big or Pac?

I don't think Em should be left out of the group of great lyricists; that bastard is the perfect example of Trickster incarnate; I don't think there's anyone else out there like him.

But yeah - certainly there are some bad rappers out there; but I was more referring to ones who are out for longer than 6 months.

BTW: I agree with lots of Dipsets lyrics being garbage. They do have some decent beats, but thats about it...

Em is good but he's only good when he has drama in life AKA kim, hailey etc..... his new song is good but then again it's about his daughter.

I'm a big biggie fan, i never really caught on to Pac image really i thought the whole "Thug Life" persona was ridiculous considering he had millions of dollars.
I enjoy listening to Biggie, its real entertainment the way he paints a picture is great. Not too many artist now a days do that or even attempt to.
Listen to songs like "I got a story to tell" "Party and Bullshit" "Juicy" "One more chance" and you can see what i mean, his rhythm was above average at that time. and could hold up today. When i hit up a club I can still hear atleast 2-3 biggie tracks on a good night as to where I can here Pac maybe once.

Pac i would say is a better writer, Biggie was more entertaining and had a crazy swagger with his rhymes.

if you want good lyrics you have to go back to Eric B and Rakim.
at the time stuff like this was crazy and i think could still hold up today:
"I take seven MCs, put 'em in a line/ And add seven more brothas who think they can rhyme/ Well, it'll take seven more before I go for mine/ And that's 21 MCs ate up at the same time."

Best rapper hands down has got to be NAS. Talk about painting pictures... Listen to One Love and I Gave You Power. He even killed it on the Street Fighter record.. hahaha..
