I never planned on having to rebuild my engine this winter, but as they say, ---- happens!

damn, just wish i had the knowledge/funds/patience to do that. maybe next winter, just get a new motor and build it throughout the winter. would be a good project.

-harder to find than jdm itr -you have to mill the small end of the rod .5mm on each side for them to fit properly on gsr rods. Didn't want to do that -more expensive than jdm itr -don't have the special coating on the skirts(unsure about that one, just what I read) -and I wanted to mill the head and clean up the block even though, I didn't have to. Just did it for peace of mind CTR are just way to high compression for me. 12.9:1 on a gsr...Yikes! Also since I'll be daily driving the teg in winter/summer and wanted to keep it somewhat reliable.

Too Tight of a valve lash....that's what happened to Jonn
or in my case, too much oil comsumption causing excess carbon build up on the valve seat, therefore not allowing the valve to transfer the heat into the head like it should |

That's what happened to my old LS motor. I guess that's what they mean by burned valve... oil consumption problems here as well.

Parts were around $700 Labour was around $700 Buying the new tools that I was missing $300 Brokerage, Duties, Shipping & Handling + Taxes $200 Street Tuned $350 So roughly $2200 in total, then I returned any tools I wouldn't be using again so $2000 or the way I see it, the price for a set of good rims/tires & an alignment. |
