Malaysia deployed two sniffer dogs in its battle against music and movie piracy on Tuesday, becoming the first country in the world to use the animals to hunt for disks of illegal recordings hidden in cargo. Two female Black Labradors, "Flo" and "Lucky," demonstrated their technique by sniffing through piles of sealed cartons in an air cargo hangar and then signaling their handler about a suspect package by sitting down in front of it.

That’s because the current laws are far too tame, however, the industry as a whole is putting pressure on Ottawa to make drastic changes. Believe you me, once these laws are passed and they eventually will, if you are caught selling copyrighted material (i.e. movies, software, etc) it won’t be a 1000 or 2000 dollar fine, it will be a 10,000 dollar fine minimum with jail time for repeat offenders. The sale of this stuff will still occur, however, it will be to a lesser extent and it will be driven underground.
Pac mall vendors might be making a ton of money on this stuff, but if they face huge fines and jail time / criminal records - they'll think twice.

That is a very good point, but i talked to the owner once, and it turns out, that the person who does get fined is the employee surprisingly....So they don't give a damn....Since supposedly, they ARENT the 1s selling it.....I dun really understand it but ya....plus they usually higher fresh immigrants so, they belive what do they have to lose rite?

Yup, but believe me... it’s going to change. I couldn't believe that Pac mall made wikipedia....

I don't know why anyone would want one of those pirated movies. Shitty quality recorded from a camcorder in the theater or its a burnt DVD of something you can buy used at blockbuster for $7.

now wouldn't you get pissed if you went with a group of people for say lets give or take 5-6 people. to lets just say watch "300" at AMC at Kennedy Commons
(due to the 300 post and location)
thats $12 a person without movie watcher card and $10 with.
so lets say 6 people went.

$60 for an outing. compared to $7 and $53 worth of food and junk (alcohol) that you can get on the side. and if you get lucky and get a good quality than you're laughing but otherwise sometimes you go watch a movie in the theater and look back and say what a waste of 10 bucks cause it was shitty.

so iunno. but i paid to watch 300 today fwiw

I love the pirated movies. Who really wants to pay almost $30 for a new DVD, or $12 or so for a movie ticket. I have tons of the Pac Mall movies, and for the most part the quality is good. I got a couple that were kind of messed up but other than that their good.

I'm going there today actually, more movies for me

I love going to movies. It's the experience to me than anything else. Love the big screen, the surround sound and the highest picture quality. I'll pay $10 for all these.
Plus, in my opinion, people that made that movie, spent their time and money deserve to get paid.

P. S. Just bought Borat's geniune DVD with all the deleted scenes. Love it!

The people advocating this would be the ones bitching the loudest if their car got stolen.

"why pay full price for parts when I can get stolen suff for 1/2 the price??"

lol dvd's are way too over-priced..but i still buy the good ones. I'm trying to build a library and pirated movies in slim cases with photo copied covers don't cut it. I like the originals..and i'm willing to pay $30 for a very good movie..for all the other ones...thank god for E-BAY!

If it was, movies would be re-made with cheap actors and low production budgets.

apples and peaches

all my car parts are purchased legitimately.
cause i want those warranties.

and a pirated movie would only be seen once and most often chucked aterwords and a car part is there for the duration of your car or until part failure.

i only buy dvd's that i know i can watch the movie over and over again.
such as the "Austin Powers' serious.. oh man, love that and Dumb and Dumber
haha
