the short version of the story. I was tired of a glossy black car so i gathered some materials (my alot of patience), and went to work vinyl wrapping the car.

I've seen this on jdm.r. Looks amazing. Good work doing it yourself too. As for it coming off, is there any way of it damaging paint? I heard of other vinyled cars getting parts of their paint ruined because of it
PS: Sell me your skirts nooooooow

thanks for the props. regarding removing it and damaging the paint. To my knowledge & experience, it does not. I have to redo the front bumper in coming weeks due to a couple scuffs, so we'll find out soon.

Good job on doing it, but I just don't see the point of doing it. Once you get chips and scratches in it, it's going to look like ----, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Vinyl used is 3M controltac plus, it's a dry application style vinyl with micro air channels embedded on the adhesive side. This allows you to place and remove until you're happy with the results, that combined with a heat gun allows you eliminate any creases or bubbles when you're laying it down.
Yes the bumpers (and spoiler) were the most difficult, but with a couple extra hands helping it's not too bad. The vinyl in no way damages the paint, it actually protects it. If it gets damaged by someone scratching it, a stone chip, etc. Simple solution, replace it. (not easy for someone who takes their car to be done at a shop though). DIY rules!
I might be stripping all the black off for the winter and going with something really unique for next summer.
stay tuned.

The wrap looks awesome man, i did the same thing to my EK HB last year. That wrap stuff works awesome, but one thing take your time to take it off because it took off some paint on my car when it came time to take it off. But the stuff i used was Oracal matt black wraping cast.
