Default My First Teg / New Deck

Just figured I'd finally take some pics of my first Teg. So far I've only added a deck, but there will be more updates soon. I'll keep postin' as I progress.

Any/All feedback is appreciated.

It's a 1998 Acura Integra RS.

The Deck was $499.00. ( I could have gotten it cheaper online but with shipping, border tax, etc. it worked out to be the same.)

Install was $100.00. (Also included a bypass switch for the Video Feature, so that you may play music videos/movies while driving. There's a switch underneath my steering column which enables/disables the feature in case I get pulled over by police.)

I got it done at Selective Sound in Mississauga. Talk to Davis. Tell him Chris sent you, I got it done last weekend.

It was a tight fit... he quoted the install to take an hour, but it ended up being a 2 1/2 hour install. Needless to say my GF was NOT impressed as she waited with me "patiently", lol.

They kept having to shave down the plate to ensure the deck would not jam when it came out on a 30 degree angle for disc entry/tilting.

All in all, worth the wait.

Ahh yes. I've got some work done at selective Sound. They do a good job. Unfortunately I don't really have $500+ to spend on a deck and I don't watch movies or music videos while driving. lol

LOL, it was my first purchase, I decided to go big or go home... wanted to start the car off nicely. I needed a stereo badly anyways as the factory deck I had was not in working order.

As for watching while driving, I try not to do too much of it... lol. I just like playing music videos while I drive, and I generally just glance at them from time to time. My parents live far so if the GF and I go visit, it helps keep her entertained.

Yeah it's nice having a DVD player. I have a little 3" screen in my deck, and for the price, i could not say no for everything it does, but you got to love the double din decks.

Yea. A simple deck with an aux output is enough for me to bump my ipod. . But I like your deck though.

damn 2 n a half hours for installation .i use to have an indash but got stolen .anyway when i had it cops never said anything about music videos playing while driving. I think its legal now since all the gps r out .sometimes where parked just watchin movies n cops would be like what are you guys doing here? im just like cant u see watchin a movie.all in all never got tickets about it ..
hopefully they come out with a double din or indash dvd that allows you to use the internet and just watch youtube like the iphone would grab that 4sure .wifi

most of the new cars with gps will only allow you to change directions/address etc when the car is in park. You have to bypass that in order to use it while in drive... But ya nice deck i was thinking of getting a doubled in myself.. just dont have the $$$ right now..lol... gotta start selling drugs..lol...

GPS is fine, but watching video's and movies are still illegal, that's why they you need to hook it up to your E-brake, because your not going to go drive down the road with your e-brake on.

Thanks.
Unfortunately I did not have the extra $400.00 required at the time for the GPS Nav, or the 150.00 for the Sirius Sat Radio or the 200 for the Bluetooth Adapter, lol.

If needed, I will add later.

So far it just runs audio and video and bumps it nicely.

the thing i dont like about integras
is when u put a double din tv it posision kinda low
so you have to look down a bit to see your music videos
dats kinda gay
but tv is always better than no tv

I'd be careful with that if you plan on using it outside of the car, having it always charging on and off will destroy your battery life on that iTouch, if i were you I'd buy a cheap used iPod Vid that you won't really use outside of the car.

Thanks Nate,
I actually don't even use the iPod anymore... I've found a way to burn MP3 Data DVD's so that I can fit 900+ songs on one disc. I have DVD's with approx. 50 albums per disc, so I'm good music wise.

Dima - It's all good about the deck, I saw your comment about the 2DIN being tilted, but my deck can tilt 90 degrees. It can be flush against the frame or tilt out if need be. I don't have any issues seeing my screen because I sit so low in my seat anyways.

Thanks for all the positive feedback... since then I've only added some POLK Audio speakers. After Christmas/New Years I will be re-painting, slamming, new rims, amp, subs and more! can't wait!
