Very nice, Lots of money put into that engine.

D.T.P Sep 18, 2009 07:01 AM

nice but why 2 wastegates?

dimasbenz Sep 18, 2009 12:15 PM

well its pure track
so thats why the guy put all this money into it

dho22audio Sep 19, 2009 02:12 AM

Nice work any idea who did it, or was it your brothers friend.

XNXIXTXRXOX Sep 19, 2009 10:28 AM

2 waste gate for different boost levels. dont want 40+ psi at the start. it changes from a lower boost to high after like 2nd gear.

dimasbenz Sep 19, 2009 10:56 AM

it was all my brothers friend mostly that build this

it can be controlled by rpm/gear by the ecu as far as i know. so again i wouldnt c a point to using 2 wastegates

XNXIXTXRXOX Sep 20, 2009 09:32 PM

then you would need a electronic wastegate lol cus waste gates have springs in them set for different boost levels. the ecu cant control boost entirely like that... boost controllers help premature release of the spring on waste gates. boost controllers can also turn down boost, but cant turn it up above what you spring is set at. so yea, there would be two waste gates, because one would be controlled by an accuator, which yeah would be part of the ecu.

Yor brother's friend has some skills.

dimasbenz Sep 21, 2009 12:56 AM

2 wastegates are for high boost applications especially drag cars. When you you are running big turbos they push out a lot of exhaust gas, if you can not get rid of the extra gas your boost is going to spike. Therefore 2 WG's will keep your boost under control. Basically a wastegate is for getting rid of extra "boost" if you are set up to run 15psi you want 15psi not go up to like 19psi and then drop off too 15psi

A boost controller is for turning boost up. If you have a 10psi spring in your wastegate and you want 15psi you turn your boost controller up. By doing so you are restricting vacuum to the WG, when this happens it allows you to make 15psi. you can never turn down the boost lowwer than what the wastegate is.

Hope this helps

What? you got it the other way. you cant go less than what the spring is, but you can go more.

justin79 Sep 23, 2009 02:54 PM

killer cool

XNXIXTXRXOX Sep 23, 2009 05:20 PM

Ialways thought that a boost controller could also let extra boost of beyond the waste gate... o well, good to learn :)

jonvondoe Sep 23, 2009 07:09 PM

nice

Rfan Sep 23, 2009 11:28 PM

I remember seeing this car at ETD numerous times a couple years back. Wasn't this the car that had a d-series engine at first?

dimasbenz Sep 23, 2009 11:52 PM

whats ETD? and i do remember he did have a different motor
so very possible
