sure sure - he sells records, he wants to sell records and he will continue to sell records so that means he'll rap about bitches, hoes, blunts, 40's and big screen tv's..... e.g. gold digger

concious rappers like mos or common won't appeal to the kanye or 50 fans.... they're not talking about candy shops.

Kanye makes some nice songs... but I do like more conscious music like The Roots, Common, Mos Def.. and such... you get the idea

Kanye is not unique, half his ---- is sampled. And the big 'showdown' with 50 only shows how commercial he is.
I haven't even heard his album, but i'm pretty sure it sucks from the 2-3 singles i've heard. 50 just as bad, if not worse, but he smart enough to sell his ----

now I'm not a big rap/hip hop guy but speaking from similar situations in the rock world....

Why is it that commercial success makes an artist crap automatically. Just because an artist makes a handful of "club tracks" that sound good but aren't the most thougtful and unique pieces people wont listen to the rest of their stuff.

I personally really enjoy Kanye....but i'm guessing its because I only hear whats on the radio....and compared to 99% of the hip hop on the radio he is amazing

just my 2 cents

not automatically crap - because look at the amount of tunes dr. dre has made for commercial sale and i'd still go out and cop his records any day of the week.

the difference is when it turns from a "handful" to a whole record. basically at this point, kanye is trying to make a full LP full of singles which he thinks will sell. i'm sure he will. he should've just stayed producing and stopped after "through the wire". my honest opinion is that "through the wire" and "diamonds from sierra leone" are the only good tunes i'll ever hit repeat on.

^^^ music is a business. 1st and foremost. Many people "work" for a living, this business is NO exception. I'd "sellout" my talent to make $, look at any artist out there. You ain't hot forever, and when you are you better ride the ------- wave.

QFT! just listen to his production on "Guess who's back" By Scarface feat. Jay Z and Beanie Seagel.

btw hip hop died back in '99 all the stuff that comes out now should be labeled as pop/mainstream

yes and that is true. music is a business and any artist who releases even a single and says they don't expect any money from it is lying. like i said - i'm sure kanye and 50 will sell without a doubt. the problem is now your target audience has shifted to 13 year old girls and the lester molesters who listen to it - they basically decide what type of music is generated.

the good stuff is gone.. all that's left is the cotton candy shop stuff they play at grade 8 graduation and is rather more suited for the alberto vidal sassoon hair commercials.

I think hip hop died a lil later back in 2002.....but as for Kanye's album im not a fan, it sounds aight. 50Cent new album is pure weak sauce. Hes getting worse and worse and i think hes out of material and should just quit the game. Apparently hes got one more album due for feb and hes gonna try and concentrate on his movie career. 50 should quit while hes still ahead like eminem did...just my $0.02 worth
