A profession is an occupation, vocation or career where specialized knowledge of a subject, field, or science is applied.[1] It is usually applied to occupations that involve prolonged academic training and a formal qualification. It is axiomatic that "professional activity involves systematic knowledge and proficiency."[2] Professions are usually regulated by professional bodies that may set examinations of competence, act as a licensing authority for practitioners, and enforce adherence to an ethical code of practice.
[edit] Formation of a profession
A profession arises when any trade or occupation transforms itself through "the development of formal qualifications based upon education and examinations, the emergence of regulatory bodies with powers to admit and discipline members, and some degree of monopoly rights."[3]
The process by which a profession arises from a trade or occupation is often termed professionalization and has been described as one, "starting with the establishment of the activity as a full-time occupation, progressing through the establishment of training schools and university links, the formation of a professional organization, and the struggle to gain legal support for exclusion, and culminating with the formation of a formal code of ethics."[4]
An important example of a profession is teaching.

Holy crap, if I had read this earlier I wouldn't have been as nice in the other thread.
I am now completely convinced that you couldn't be further from a "Pro".
You keep yacking about cameras not once mentioning lenses which can make a far more dramatic difference than a camera body. A real pro knows this.
You whine about noise where I see little if any, and certainly nothing that would be obvious in a print. A real pro knows this too.
Clients disappointed? Do you really think any of them care what you shoot with? I know a lot of wedding photographers that still use D70's. I've never heard any complaints about the final results from that lowly 6mp noise machine.
The shame is that most of those people would assume that you know what your doing just because you have a BIG camera....
Time to get over yourself.
FWIW, I probably have more invested in camera gear than you do, but I'm not delusional thinking that makes me a pro.

^thanks for the CONSTRUCTIVE critisim, i agree my WB is kinda off in some pics, i was trying to get the colors on the walls to pop. i actually figured out the problem, the saturation on my camera was set way too high...

^HRMM...that's weird, because i was messing around with the camera the other night to see what was the reason i was getting the grainy-ness, and i found that even on the preview the picture would turn out different with the saturation levels (on the preview atleast) , but that doesn't make sence if i'm shooting in raw.....
