Default did a G2 HID retrofit....

just finished a G2 HID retrofit for member blackeagle on the board. here's how it turned out.

here's what i started out with, a set of one peices with the clear lense off of ebay: (lense taken off)

Name: Picture191.jpg
Views: 4
Size: 188.0 KB

Name: Picture192.jpg
Views: 3
Size: 90.4 KB

the chrome trim inside was a bit much so i painted it gunmetal:

Name: 193.jpg
Views: 3
Size: 135.9 KB

next i got the projector mounted, used projectors out of a BMW

Size: 69.3 KB
(yes trenell was watching girlfriends on BET..haha!)

Name: Picture004-1.jpg
Views: 4
Size: 65.5 KB

and on the car, i attempted to paint a bulb yellow, but it just ended up burning off of the base of it because that's what grounded the blub, so blackeagle is going to pick up some real yellow bulbs, for now, we just put in the clears:

both:

Size: 70.9 KB

here's the cut off, not too bad, but unfortunally, with the ebay 1pc's, the lights can be adjusted from left to right, but not up and down

Size: 20.8 KB

and finally done, here's how it looks:

I would liek to thank Fuzzy for doing a great job and for being patient on dealing with me. Only he knows the obstacles he had to overcome to get this done.

And for big hairy gino, I don't appreciate you calling me a flake. Yes I said that I would buy your hid kit, but if you recall I pm'ed you asking you for your number because I lost it and never got a reply back from you.

Either way, it's water under the bridge now. I don't want to start anything here.

You never got a reply back because I dont deal with flakers. First time you were supposed to come down you had a valid excuse, 2nd time around I had to keep calling you and finally got a hold of you through PM since your phone was always off.

If you dont want it, make it easy for me and tell me you dont want it straight up. Thanks for being a pain in the *** and wasting my time.

First of all,

I apologize in advance for bumping an old thread, but i havent seen too many retros on here.

Funny you mention that fuzzyLS .... ALL HEADLIGHTS aim up and down, but not all aim left to right ..... and yes even ebay ones.... because afterall they are just clones.

ITs done to save space and money when side to side is pointless anyways IE oem valeo housings have done this in 2003+ vehicles.

In any case, have you done any other teg retros? Im a well known retrofitter on hidplanet but Im new to this forum and id like to see some 98+, ive only done a few 98+ chassis vehicles and a 93 (tight housing), I have to do a 2000 jdm front and i havent had time to split it yet. I imagine its the same as 98 since the projector is identical.

I personally am not a big fan of german projectors, they are affordable but not cutting edge lighting. E46 which is what u used came out of 2002-2004 excluding 330xi ZKW vehicles (bmw 3 series). Probably bmws poorest choice in projectors. They have been getting dumber with time anyways since current 3 series are probably just as bad hence the low part cost.

ZKW units are a little better sicne they have a defiend cutoff but it would be a wise decision for ppl to veer towards the tsx/TL/S2k (stanley + koito) projectors for reliable lighting. Check hidplant.com/forums for more details on the various options and the most bang for your buck vs performance.

Regards,
CM

the ebay lights did not actually aim up and down, when you open them up, (maybe it was these ones in paticular) there was only one adjustment screw that moved the whole reflector bowl left and right. on the stock G2 headlight, you can adjust them up and down seeing as the stocks are 3pcs and you can adjust the middle part of them up or down, however with these paticular ebay ones, i did not see a way to do so.

as for the projectors, the BMW's arn't bad, sure they arn't as sharp as S2K's or TSX's (i'd love to get my hands on a set personally) but the bmw's are not a bad projector for the money, expecially when your trying to keep costs down.

a friend (engsr) and i did a retro on my 94 integra, pretty much same basis as the 98+, here was the end result:

Name: IMG_5149.jpg
Views: 4

Name: IMG_5150.jpg
Views: 4
Size: 73.6 KB

Name: IMG_5151.jpg
Views: 4
Size: 103.0 KB

^they were aimed a bit too high in the last pic and the second to last pic, i was limited due to the size of the actual projector, it would not fit through the housing of the headlight so i coulden't bring the projector as close to the lense as i could. another memeber on the board did a retro with the smaller valeo's and was able to pull them right up to the lense for a better ------.

Do you guys look at wall shots tho?? or just the light?

Fuzzyls bro's lights are misamed, clearly. The Pass side is rotated counter clockwise too much on a fixed bracket. PLus you didnt retrofit them yourself? then why did you retro someone elses headlights?

Cutoffs are supposed to be level and parallel to the ground + always get new headlights.

BTW Fuzzyls bro, those lights do aim up and down since i know personally, but when u break the clips and bolt it together it will obviously not work anymore.

U guys want some real cutoffs.... (these are all of my pics)

i had many cookies so far HAHhA... you should care if u make retros for order and charge labour. Free help cannot be questioned and is not questionable, but when u charge others then u have liability in your work.

at least if you do a retrofit do a good job... or dont do one at all.
At least some members on here can admit that they cant do it themselves and get pros to aim their retros...ive had a few teg owners ask me to aim their retros for labour fees and thats cool....

but admitting you are wrong is the first step in solving an issue anyways. Ur comments are pretty rude and you dont even know me or my work....Is there something you're hinting at?

BTW ive seen ur work Fuzzy...

I kinda saw that too.... also the cellar garage and i dont see what rain has to do with the retro in a garage. I guess when retros are fixed its kinda hard to aim alloy heating duct tape anyways.

Hey Linux, maybe we should show Fuzzy what a real retro looks like heh?

And just to add a couple of comments, maybe you should care what his opinion is because you took me for a $300 ride and the ------ thing looks like absolute ***. If you didn't know what you were doing you should've just said so. By the time the whole thing was done.the light output was worse than stock but did you say anything? No you didn't. You just figured this guy is a moron and I'll take his money.

Anyways, what goes around comes around, just remember that.

custom aiming blocks with rotational adjustment and they aim vertically as stock.

How long did the retro take anyways?
Do you really want to see the pics fuzzy? Because i have them and its not pretty back there or in front .... let alone there was no beam since u used hella e55 d1s bulb holders on a bosch e46 projector.

I wanted to comment on your work Fuzzy but if u cant take the critism then just say so. No rude comments or

Im not "arrogant", however i know when im right and wont agree with you when ure wrong... no matter who it is... im just shocked at how people dont judge this type of custom work. Maybe its just me.

If you read my first posts, i wasnt arrogant at all, but when u start making fun of me and bring in acronyms of profanity then ure the one who is making an *** of himself.

Check this and then stop boasting about how understanding you were, i wasnt there so i dont know for sure how u did it. But i can tell u the final product was sub par.... maybe something you could throw together in a few minutes. I dont see how u can disagree when the pics show ur work.. im not gonna let your retro get away with amazing comments and people praising your retrofitting skills. Its not fair to them or other people who know what they're doing. Its ripping them off and illegal on the road, plus a waste of money giving people less light than a PNP kit which they can do themselves.

Sergio is an amazing guy who is very understanding, he is nice enough to not even hassle you about it. He paid the retro fees all over again to get a clean retro which is fully functional and never even told you about it.

The least you could do is appreciate how understanding some people are even when u fully mess with their headlights.

My Main point here is for you to accept that this retro is not what you would call acceptable and further educate yourself if you continue to make retrofits for others so these things dont happen in the future again. Stick the 94+ bodies or take your time, ask for it.

This was all just to help you from your rushed approach. If you fail to see people helping you then u are truly blind. Because if you think this retro was amazing then you have a long way to go and it will be very hard for you to change your ways.

Im here on the forums to help and im open to ppl asking for help on PM,,, many of you know me from hidplanet and im a fair guy. Ive helped out others and i never hesitate to respond to pms/emails etc....

I'm the one who rushed you? As far as I can remember you were the one who always gave the the run around because you always had something come up. I waited three patient weeks and towards the end I did push you because I wanted results.

I gave you my headlights and $180 in cash when I didn't even know you, so you're damn right that I want to see these things done but regardless I got my new retro done in 3 days and you can see the final result as oppose to your three week retro.

And the reason why I said I was happy, is because I knew you weren't going to io anything about it sice you already had my money so why even bother.

Anyways, no point on going further. What is done is done, but be aware that everyone is as layed back as me especially when I dished out a good chunk of change for a buthcered up retro.
