Sept 18 - touring Mosport for Sick Kids
Y'all,
Al Balinsky (GT Sprints competitor) has setup a rather unique lunch time event during the BEMC race weekend at Mosport on Saturday, September 18th.
For a $20 donation to Sick Kid's, you'll slap a BF Goodrich sticker on your windshield and get a wrist band. After a quick drivers meeting around 11:15am, Al will lead two groups of cars for a "tour" around the BIG course at Mosport.
This isn't a "lapping" day in the traditional sense. It's meant to be a couple of "touring" laps around Mosport. There will be no passing, drafting, drifting, or other forms of insanity that can lead to big boo-boo's. It's a chance for the average street car driver to get a look at Mosport through your own windshield.
Sounds cool to me!
Anyway, I'm not sure if I can make it myself...but I will post here if I can. The event has been a Mazda-only event in the past, however now that Al is with Woodbridge Toyota, he has opened the event up to any and all makes.
You don't need a helmet, or race tires, or anything fancy. You just need to follow Al around the track at a "reasonable" and safe pace.
Here's the thread Al started over at CASC: http://www.casc.on.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=20511

I participated in this last May and had a blast. It's a great way to experience the track without taking your car home in little tiny pieces.
