what do i need to convert automatic to a manual

Default what do i need to convert automatic to a manual

Ok so im new to anything cars and bought my first integra last year but didnt know how to drive standard so i just bought a 97 auto. now ive picked up a couple things and want to convert it to a b18c and i figure i might as well change it to a standard at the same time. can anyone give me a list of parts i need to find for the manual swap before purchasing the engine swap?

If you are new to anything cars, then an auto to manual swap is probably something you should not try to tackle at this point.

You may want to consider first learning how to drive standard and then think about buying a car that is already standard and doing the swap then.

Heres a list I found
1. The trans.
2. Linkage rod assembly (any 94-01 teg)
3. Manual trans. console
4. Shifter and ****
5. Manual ECU
6. Pedal assembly (94-01 civic or teg)
7. Clutch slave and master cylinders
8. Clutch fluid container
9. Clutch hard lines and hoses
10. Flywheel and bolts
11. Clutch set with alignment tool and throw out bearing.
12. Manual intermediate shaft (94-01 teg, 95-97 delsol, 99-01 civic)
13. Rear trans. mount bracket for manual trans. (94-01 teg only!)
14. Front trans. mount bracket for manual trans.
15. After re welding the bracket on chassis, a top tran. mount for manual trans. (94-01 teg)
16. Starter for manual trans.
17. Lots of spare bolts and nuts
18. Air tools
19. GM syncromesh #12345349, 3 quarts.
20. Time and plenty of beer.



Lol quoted from Vida off one of the random threads about doing a swap (there use to be a sticky but it randomly disappeared lol). I'm sure there is more but that is a base. But I agree with MPR imo and it apparently is a ton of work idk.

yea i spent all fall and part of winter learning standard. so i got that down. and as for buying a new car ive already put to much into this one id rather just swap it to a standard instead of taking everything off and putting it on a new car.

Yea... no don't do it unless you have worked on cars before, this is not a beginner type of mod.
If your looking at it like this "Pay 3gs for a clean standard abused car. or Find a clean AUTO teg for <1g and do the swap. You still need to look at the time and effort your going to put into swapping it, and how long your car will be down while you do the swap.

Think about the following things.
1. How much is your time and labor worth.
2. What are the parts going to cost me
3. Do I have enough skill to do it properly.

In all honesty it'll be cheaper and easier for you to buy the standard teg. IMO, and I'm mechanically inclinded enough rebuild a motor, and install it, and I would second guess myself doing an auto to manual conversion, just based on the amount of work it takes to do it right.

Hmmm people always think it's a lot of work. One of my buddies from college did it on his driveway and it cost him roughly 300-500 with all parts he needed. It truly isnt so hard but just need the patients for it and the knowledge of what you are doing. I would honestly see how much a shop would want to charge if you were to get the suppiles.

I understand why people are saying it be easier to get a new car, but you love your current car and want to keep it and that's totally understandable and that's why you should try to convert it if you want to. Do it up man, you'll get props from me and that a good thing lmao.

Theres a reason thats there lool

But yes, parts will come out to 300-500 like paul said. The tricky part is really getting everything together for it. Some shops will do this swap for another 600 or so dollars in labor. Is it worth it? Up to you.

I did the auto to manual swap on a 91 civic. If you jumper the switch at the automatic shifter, you can use your ECU. Or just do the conversion to the ECU board and convert the auto ECU to manual, 20 minutes with a soldering iron. I'd also grab a gauge cluster, I hate getting into a converted car with the PRND21 in the cluster still.

It's not necessarily difficult to do, but it does require a lot of time and parts.
