VTEC solnoid...
A friend of mine brought up a really weird question to the other day an it had me stomped ...! lol
ok here goes .... would an obd 1 SOHC vtec solnoid fit/work on an obd 1 DOHC vtec motor ? So i told him i really dont know if it will !!
And thats y im posting it up lol !
Does it...?
Your input guys....

vtec will NOT kick in harder with a different solenoid. How is this even physically possible? All the solenoid does is let oil through into the rocker arm shafts to lock the vtec pins into place in the rocker arms, thus activating vtec.
The difference between the D-series solenoid and the B-series solenoid is the placement of the vtec pressure switch. The D-series has it coming in perpendicular to the cylinder head on the left side (the dizzy is to the right of the solenoid) whereas the B-series and H-series vtec solenoids have the vtec pressure switch coming in parallel to the cylinder head and are located to the right side of the dizzy.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the bolt pattern is the same, so a d-series will fit, but I'm pretty sure the dizzy will be in the way of the vtec pressure switch (hence the position of the B and H-series pressure switch).

i don't know man, i just heard that the h series lets in more oil to the head cuz the sonlenoid is bigger.. People talk ---- tho, i'm not saying i believe that the h series kicks in harder on a b head.. I'm just saying what i heard. I need more facts before i'd try it on my car, so i don't suggest anyone tries it before a verdict is concluded.

all that solniod does is lock the lifter that so the lager cam loeb can operate instead of the small ones, so no vtec will not kick in any harder with an H series solnoid. Its not like you changed any thing on the cam your just turning vtec on or off with the solnoid. It's just an electronic relay wich performs mechanical work aswell.
