that happened to me when i installed a cold air intake. are you getting any codes or is it just not loud enough. maybe your filter needs to be cleaned/replaced.

is your VTEC still functioning? The key to a loud VTEC is a good intake system. If your VTEC system is still working check the filter, it might be reducing the airflow enough to affect the sound of the vtec transition.

For me personally, I find the best thing you can do in terms of transition is have a cold-air. It seems to reverberate more sound through the intake charge pipe making the sound of the intake lobe change nice & loud

well first of all vtec on a GSR is at 4400-4500....the noise you are hearing at 5600 is the IABs (big throttle plate like thing in the intake manifold opening up).

Actually there are 3 lobes on DOHC VTEC cams....primary, secondary and the vtec lobe.

IABs have nothing to do with VTEC, its a throttle plate that is opening inside of the intake manifold at 5600rpms, its actuated by vacuum and a solenoid signal....nothing more. Some people seem to think GSR's have dual stage vtec or 2 vtecs, but they don't. Just vtec at 4400rpms and the IAB's opening at 5600rpms.

only your exhaust vtec is working which is causing the loudness to go out the muffler where you can't hear it.
