Default TypeR Headache

Background; I am a licenced Honda tech for 13 years, so I know the basics but dont know everything

2000 Integra TypeR Stock engine, ECU and internals, Only added mods have been a cold air and headers with a 3" exhaust all these mods are 4 years old. Stock CAT.

Issue; Running rich and dumping fuel, low idle stall chugging when outside temps are below say around 10c, if its 20c out starts and runs brand new like a dream. It can be chugging away and low idle then it kicks up to 1200 and idle drops back down and runs great, restart it and it does it again, the only thing I can compare it to is a Honda/Acura v-6 with a stuck open EGR valve(chuuging and missing) and when its tapped and closes the engine smoothans right out and runs glass smooth

I have been chasing an issue here with this car ( friends ) off and on and spent saturday at work on my day off working on it but have run out of ideas. I have the factory S/M for this car. Base timing set to spec, fuel pressure and flow under all conditions good, IAC, intake clean and base idle set at 450+/- 50 as per S/M(car was used and screw had been tampered with prio to me getting into it) With Honda Diagnostic tablet hooked up I can see all the data, Never a DTC or pending DTC. I can reproduce the issue. IAT and ECT working fine, 02 when running bad is around .7-.9, .2-.8 when running ok....... map and baro KOEO are the same. All connections clean and tight as well as Igniter connectors tight(SiR had an issue they wold loose connection at higher RPM, bucking jerking)....

Any questions or clarifications needed please post or PM me. As a tech its one of those problems you just loose track of LOL, becoming more and more frustrating and I am sure this is not the only Teg doing or has done this thats why I thought I would post here

Thanks
C

My car has the same issue but my type R has a skunk intake and throttle body, and ODB1 ECU with a Mugen ink jet sticker stuck on it (bought the car like this) I can't figure out what it is, so I just turned the idle up to 1000rpm for the winter (below -10 car will stall when cold). If you figure it out please post and I will do the same. I'm currently looking for a OBD2 computer to use the data port again and am going to go from there. I was assuming that my shitty chipped ECU has no cold start program, but after reading your post I'm thinking twice.

My Type R motor was/is running rich, the reason mine was running rich was that the ecu was not the correct one to be running with my old wiring harness. Im assuming this is also a swapped integra? It seems you have checked everything that could be mechanical leading to that problem, I'm saying try a different ecu go from and OBD-II to OBD-I that's what I just did before storing it and it brought down my idle (I had a problem with my idle being to high) I have never heard of that happening to a Type R before usually there problem when swap is high idle and bogging. Hope you can figure it out would be nice to find out what is causing the problem.

are you the original owner of the R?
it might sound dumb but check your ecu to see if its still the original OBD2B or been coverted to OBD1

the problem you are having sounds a lot like my friends 2000 GSR with OBD1 chipped ECU
when he converted the ECU he didnt change the injectors/alternator to OBD1
after he did that.. problem was solved.
