Default TURBO TIME B16a

so ive finally decided to boost my 1990 da after alot of research.
im looking to keeping this build 2000-3000 but closer to 2000 because i would like some money saved for unexpected stuff that will most likely pop up.
so far my car is this
1990 2 door da
b16a
2 1/4 inch piping
magnaflow cat back
high flow cat
also have a used text pipe
short ram intake
stage 3 exedy clutch



(anyone has any hookups on parts please shed some light and help me out lol)

any imput is very helpful nothing is set in stone yet just making a small list.
im looking to use a garrett t3 super 60 from spooling performance.
looking to keep the psi around 7-9psi because im not be building the motor yet.

i read that it wont be to hard for a b16a to get a 60trim turbo spooled up.

any one else know where else to get some parts for my build? i would prefer local
i dont mind on waiting to get the parts because all of this is going to be getting put together and on during the winter.

sr3der sorry if i spelt your name wrong i know you got alot of info on this so please id love to learn some more.

also im looking into a standalone tuning system. one where i do not need to hook up my laptop.

might consider following this route. any one know some places with good used turbos? meaning no shaft play and all the seals are in good condition???

^Ok, first things first. You have a budget set up. That's good. Now you need to set a reasonable power goal based on your budget and engine type/condition.

As I've said before, you do not "choose" how much boost to run. You choose a power goal and based on how well the engine is tuned and the type of turbo/components you're running, will determine how much boost is required to make that power with your specific setup. Boost on a b16 with stock internals can push 250whp safely. It is definitely do-able within the budget you set in place. Be prepared to pay $400 or more to get it properly tuned (which is absolutely essential!).

You'll need to look at compressor maps of various turbo's to determine which turbo will be best suited for your setup.

Also, what kind of use with this car see? Track, street, or both? These things need to be considered when choosing a turbo. If it's for the street, you don't want a huge turbo that won't make boost until 5000rpm. But you also don't want it to spool at 2000rpm and die out in the higher rpm range.

From my experience, a T3 60 trim turbo would be on the larger side, but would work decent on a b16. It won't give you much boost until 4000rpm+ but will provide GOBS of boost in the higher rpm range.

Again, research research research. Google compressor maps and learn how to read them and calculate which turbo will work best for your engine.

Use quality components that are well matched to your setup. When buying a blow-off valve, don't worry about the sound it makes. That is irrelevant. The bov does a VERY important job which is to vent all compressed air from the charge pipe, quickly and cleanly (NO chattering), and prevent compressor surge (which is the chattering sound). Compressor surge kills turbos more often then you think. So don't get caught up in choosing a bov for a specific sound. Their not there to make a cool noise. lol

Have the whole setup installed and tuned by a reputable performance shop (like Hivelocity tuning, or altech).

my power goal knowing that itll stay stock internals is 220-240 max!!
yes i did do some research on that turbo and around 4000-4500 is when i would like the boost to kick in. only because i have a gsr dash so my redline is 7500-8000rpm alot of time for boost lol
ill mostly use this car for street and maybe the rare track days.

i was thinking just getting some charge piping from ebay but not the intercooler.
i know the piping wont be he best probably not even bead rolled but i have a friend who can fix is if needed. fix as in modify it to fit my car.

do you know of any local places that sell some quality turbo parts but il still be able to keep my budget?
or maybe even a turbo kit but i think that they are a little more expensive.
