Tire Noise Help
i have a 1994 integra, when the car is moving it makes this humming noise when is coming from the tires in the front and it seems to get louder as i go faster?? could it be the front wheel bearings???????
Can someone help me in this matter????
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

It could be the wheel bearing. jack the car up and grab both sides of the wheel and the top and bottom of the wheel, wiggle it around to see if there's any play. there should not be.

i have the same problem happening with me, humming from the front, gets louder the faster i go, noise remains even in neutral.. ive tried the wiggle test that fuzzy mentioned but im not getting very much play at all so i dunno...also the wheels seem to be spinning fine.. lets say it is a bad wheel barring.. whats the worst that can happen; well not worst but what is it that usually happens if i prolong replacing the wheel bearing? im guessing bad fuel mileage and ---- since its not spinning well... and what else?

^^ yup was just gonna say that.
also if your doing the bearing/hub on one side do it on the other side as well.
suspension maintenance 101 replace things in pairs.
could just be tire noise. my car does the same with my winters on but never did it with my summer rims/all season tires on it.

Do you have any handling issues?

Don't prolong the replacement if its bearing- the worst that can happen is a big fkn accident cuz the wheel falls off.
The hum I get now on my Integra is because I have winter tires on. That's frickin annoying but its worth the slip-n-slide

i think bearing is a "whom whom whom" type of humm

how can i tell how bad it is? and how long i can go without replacing it? if the wheel dosnt wiggle very much does that mean i can wait a while and just keep an eye on it to see if it starts to wiggle too much?

check your ball joints when you wiggle the wheel
i had my upper ball joint shot and the wheel wiggled when you grabbed both the top/bottom and sides.
and its really hard to tell how much time you have to replace it. my thoughts is that if you see something that is potentially catastrophic to you or your car. fix it ASAP

i had noise issue with the my car as well, the rear hub was bad, to test it jack up the car spin the wheel and feel the springs if you feel vibration then you have a bad hub too... when replacing make sure its torqued to manufacture specs other wise if its too tight you get the same problem coming back, if your mechanic is doing it make sure they torque it correctly... mine died twice due to wrong specs, did it my self and so far no issues.

wheres the best place to pick up a new hub? i think my bad one is the front driver side
you think imported jdm parts would be okay?
when i picked up some upper control arms from torontojdm the guy said a hub would be 80 bux or so i know i heard some bad ---- about that place.. but its not like im buying a motor..
ill be changing it myself anyone have any good wright ups on doing this?
also i noticed when i turn my wheel slightly to left or right the pitch of the humming sound changes
its worse when i turn towards the right side almost sounds like tire rubbing (but its not)

just get it from part source Canada, mine was just over a 100 bucks for rear hub, and it comes with 1yr warranty. stuff like this i don't think its a good idea to get used cause in a few months you might be in the same situation unless you are planning to ditch the car which is not a good idea to the new owner.....
